What a heads up play by Ichiro. That dude is a legend
@caifanes19926 жыл бұрын
I dont understand bro that Play jaja
@wunderkid87496 жыл бұрын
@@caifanes1992 In that play, he knew he couldn't catch the ball so he faced the ball like he could. Then the runner on the first base thought he could make the catch so he stopped at the 2nd base. That play by Ichiro saved the team by preventing the player from going to the plate and thus tied the game in the 9th inning!. Legend!
@PhilAndersonOutside6 жыл бұрын
Duxa21 Covers and else He made it look to Arias (the runner on 1st) as if it was a routine fly. That he could catch it, and double up Arias at first base if he ran too far. This caused Arias to slow at 2nd base, waiting to see if Ichiro would catch the ball. By the time he realized it was over his head, it was too late to get around 3rd and score. As the announcer said, brilliant play. Legend indeed.

@Joseph-lj4sp8 жыл бұрын
A lot of good hitters/baserunners can tell off contact roughly how far a ball is going to get hit. So it doesn't usually work and lots of times confuses the fielders more than the runners.
@prommac28 жыл бұрын
+Joe Danger When he fakes that he can't see the ball, the CF and LF can have a sign to tell them to try it on the next fly ball hit to them if there's ever a man on first. They've definitely talked about doing it behind closed doors.
@PancakestackPlays8 жыл бұрын
They also happen more in certain ballparks where the ball just hits and drops- so the outfields can fake it more often then.

@joemarshall42266 жыл бұрын
That last one was funny! LOL. The first one (the catcher's fake throw to second) worked because the catcher did it correctly. He looked at second, he didn't rush it, and he made a strong move, exactly as he would have had he thrown it. Most times when you see a guy fake a throw, they do it much too quickly, and give it away. You've got to "sell" it, like it's real to make the runner commit.

I think, and this is incredibly critical, if the Ichiro ball doesn't bounce straight back to him the runner's going to score anyway. If it takes a funny hop could be a triple because he's not running to the wall.
@Stormie338 жыл бұрын
Well, if he doesn't the tying run scores. General baseball rule of thumb is to play for the win on the road, so I think taking the risk there makes sense in that context.
