God bless your soul.. I've been puzzling in these concepts for so long! In school, they spend hours explaining these stuff, and I understood them in only 12min thanks to you!

Your videos are perfect for me. Learning just in the classroom isn’t enough for me, and I assume most people, and having someone who is so disciplined in their explanations helps me reaffirm what I was taught in class. I am currently a masters student and your videos are definitely keeping me proficient in all the areas that I need to know. Thank you for posting these.

Thanks for the vids. I'm not a student, but the information does at least help me understand some of the methods people use to improve their running/fitness/training

2000m rowing is closer to 6+ minutes. The general energy sourcing mix is approximately 80% aerobic and 20% anaerobic.

Thanks for catching that. I adapted this from a textbook source I guess I should have double checked the examples better.

Excellent info! I am a running coach and PT and it is so hard to find this kind of info in the fitness community.

What does it mean by maximum effort? Is this first chart assuming that you start with a sprint and then slow down as you tire and jog your way to the two hour mark while being completely exhausted? I'm trying to understand what that chart would look like if you were to just exercise around 70% max heart rate the whole way through?
@VivoPhys2 жыл бұрын
Hi 0Quakeman0. That is what the graph is assuming. If you paced yourself (e.g., 70% HRmax), your anaerobic pathways would take longer to run out of energy. Also, you would transition to mostly aerobic energy within a few minutes rather than relying on the anaerobic energy sources. The video shows an example closer to your proposed exercise session. What energy pathway is used while doing resistance training (e.g. biceps curl 15 reps)? PC or anaerobic glycocolysis?
@Smhma19803 жыл бұрын
Hey ! If you go to around minute 11:41, you will see a graph with the different aerobic vs anaerobic energy contributions. Weightlifting, which includes biceps curls, is listed in the 1-3 s range. This is the PC (aka PCr) system. This video is also by Dr. Matthews kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHSblYN9oM6JsJI and also explains the immediate ATP storage that lasts 1-3 sec.

@@VivoPhys I see the point but 15 reps last more than 3sec that why it's confusing me

If performing resistance exercise with multiple repetitions you are likely using phosphocreatine as your primary source of energy.
