@Meechstik I hope this message gets to you. In terms of why this happens, it's one of 3 things, either your family has a history of heart complications, mothers taking medications while pregnant, or you are just born with it. For context I had vale replacement surgery a few months ago and these are the answers I was given. I hope you are healing well and wish you the best.

Nice work Nathan. I'm 8 years post CABG this March (triple bypass). Regular exercise and a positive attitude were key to my recovery (I'm now in better physical condition that I was 20 years ago). I never had a heart attack or event of any kind, but just knew my body well enough, to know that something wasn't right and demanded to see a cardiologist (it's a long story). Take care everyone, remember not to work more than live and keep moving! All the best and remember, heart surgeries, sadly are one of the most common surgeries. However, this also means we're pretty good at them! Speedy recovery (with excellent videos such as this) to all :)

I had CABG, Aortic valve replaced and a triple bypass in July last, 2023, aged 53, I had, unknowingly, inhereted my late father's bicuspid valve, which claimed his life at 44 years old, I was having dizzy spells then they got worse then I started collapsing unconscious at home, the defect was detected during an Echo cardiogram. I was diagnosed and operated on in 17 days. I then had a heart attack, no pain, no discomfort, I just felt strange, I don't remember my other half calling the ambulance I just remember them taking readings and such, anyway when I arrived at the hospital I was gone I had to be de-fibbed back to life. I must have been in the OR when I heard the head surgeon say congratulations everyone, we did it. They had to put a balloon in part of the graft as this was causing backflow leakage. I couldn't believe it but thankfully I'm still here back in the gym now, I joined the gym after cardio rehab training made me feel so good again, I'm fitter and stronger than I was before. If you've been through similar, I hope you're all well now.
