Thank you very much. I have been trying to do the neck rotation exercises as shown in other people's videos but it hurts sometimes and I can't do it. But your video clearly tells me how to position my neck and shoulders before turning and I can do it without any pain. Very good.

Thank you for offering these exercises. Before I was diagnosed, I didn’t even know what facets were! It can be crazy painful when I move my head in certain ways,, so I am hoping the exercises will help. (Plus being more aware of head movement!)

I had an artificial disc placed at C5/6 3 years ago; 3 months ago an anterior revision procedure was done to remove an uncovertebral osteophyte which was creating nerve compression that had failed to be removed in my first surgery. I've had nearly all of the neurological symptoms resolve since (eliminating almost all numbness in my right hand/fingers) which has been a positive. However, both before this procedure and since, I get quite a lot of neck pain (aching/burning) and stiffness on the right side that is worse from prolonged sitting, running, or using the stair master. That pain, if I point to it... goes right to the facet joint location, but the nerve passes near there so who knows. My Dr. felt it was likely due to the nerve compression and in his opinion my facets looked "good" (which is why he opted for the revision procedure), however I do have arthritis in the facet and I cannot help but wonder if this is the reason I am constantly battling a stiff and aching neck... every little thing seems to trigger a flare up. Maybe I just need to give this more time as my revision surgery was just 3 months ago and I've suffered with neck pain and stiffness for YEARS while the nerve was compressed. I recognize some of these exercises from the McKenzie Method; but I just feel defeated and I'm struggling to believe there is real concrete hope. In PT they also teach some of these but I have failed to be consistent with it since starting a week ago b/c I keep having these flare ups of pain. The only alternative would be to remove the implant and get a fusion which carries its own set of unique risks.... I've battled this for so many years I am just exhausted.

Good evening Dr. Mel, thanks for the you provide through this channel. I’ve been suffering with very stiff neck in addition to cervical and thoracic stenosis, I’ve been recommended surgery to clear the canal but the Drs think I’ll be able even more stiff in my neck after surgery. I am very leery because my ROM is extremely limited.

So happy you found my exercises, this will only help prepare you for surgery if you choose to go through with it. Stretching the muscles and improving your ROM now will help greatly with your recovery post op, wish you well!! 🤍🙏

Hello Dr Mel, just discovered your website ! Thank you for these excercices. I realised that I wasn't doing them correctly. making sure I was in the right posture before doing the rotation. After months of pain, I have just been diagnosed with Cervical Facet Joint Syndrome. In a couple of weeks, I will be getting CT Bilateral Cervical facet joint steroid injection. Do know if these injections help?

Hey thank you so much for this , I currently have this , had it for 3 years now , it’s so painful , the pain hurts my chest as well , worse on my left side and when I lift my head up it’s so bad , I’ve been turning my neck a lot to see if that will help as a form of neck rotation , my neck also cracks easily which I don’t think is good. Physio is so expensive ans I’ve just been managing the pain but is worse on days when I’m stressed
@LivewellwithDrMel5 ай бұрын
@@imeh-mfonikon2210 Your very welcome. On stressful days use these exercises as a tool to step away and care for yourself. Your muscles will become even more tense when you are stressed, this is a good way to break up the tension and prevent the pain from getting worse. Also deep diaphragmatic breathing when you are stressed. Wishing you well 🤍🙏🌿!

Have stiffness left side vertebrae c6 t1 that does not goes away. No numbness. Is it a facet joint
@LivewellwithDrMel11 ай бұрын
You can not confirm this for sure without imaging and testing. However if there was no trauma to the neck and this stiffness and numbness is something that happened over time, these exercises will only help not hurt you. Correcting your posture is the most important thing for most neck conditions. Consistently work on these exercises throughout the day and see if this helps resolve the symptoms over the next month or two.

Why do people in America insist on having annoying loud background music? In this case, it is more noise than anything pleasant. Imagine having hearing loss or any other challenges to deal with on top of all this distraction. Please change the way you present.
