This is what big mountain, epic riding is all about. Andrew from McTrail Rider promised a day of hike-a-bike and spectacular views and we got just that. We started in the town of Morvich and mountain biked around Beinn Fhada (pronounced 'ben a-toe').

This is true. My wife and I bought a camper and toured the UK, I was shocked at how nice our country is. Scotland, Western Isles, Cornwall, Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia, The Lake District, Northumberland, Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall. Thousands of years of history. I live in NZ which is also beautiful but I still miss home.

Things that impress me about this video. 1) making the commitment to the UK is one thing, but the Highlands in midge season is dedication to the riding. Bravo 2) You're getting a real mix of trails and experiences, courtesy of your 2 "guides", but massive respect for choosing this route in Morvich, they could have played it safe with trail centres etc but this is a real Scottish ride experience. 3) your poor rear wheel! I cringed every time a drainage ditch or squared off rock was insight. Fair play to that tubeless set up!

My second name is Parkin. I never knew a cake existed called Parkin haha. I'm a mountain biker over in Cumbria and decided to give BMX a go on Thursday. I broke my foot in half right down the middle. Your videos are currently getting me through my time in the hospital. So glad there's folks like you and single track and Seth and GMBN to keep me feeling like I'm part of a ride even when sat in hospital. Enjoy Scotland man.

Bryan, as a little different thank-you, to me I just love being able to relate to someone with the issue of watching what you eat before you ride. With terrible IBS and sensitivity to gluten digestion myself it can easily ruin a day and I just gotta say you're not alone, and you make me feel less alone in this problem! You also are giving me 0 excuses to let it be a problem with getting out there and riding! Thank you for the awesome motivation as usual, from a bit of a different perspective :)

Another great video Brian! I had the Kastrells but with the boa system, and found that after a couple of hours riding my pinky toe would go numb, gave the shoes away to my brother, and then found out that you can buy an insert at REI that will rise your arch ever so slightly, that will cause your tiny toe not to rub against the side of the shoe. The guy who sold me my new Pearl Izumi shoes told me this.... now I have new shoes, and so does my brother...

Loving these vids BKXC. I live Edinburgh, but was cycling Glentress and Innerleithen before there were man made trails, as I grow up in Peebles. You need to come back and do Torridon. As for trail centres Laggan and Comrie Croft are both excellent. As for the lack of trees comments, much of Scotland once resembled a mini Canada in terms of flora and fauna. The native forests are slowly coming back to lots of Glens as new native trees are planted or areas fenced off, but there are currently too many deer eat the young tree saplings, and stoping natural regeneration of the forests as there are no longer wolves or lynx to regulate their behaviour and numbers, although this may change if the powerful landowners start to see the benefits of eco tourism, etc. Grouse moors are a problem too, with all animals that could potentially pray on Grouse - who are bred to be shot by toffs - are systematically targeted by gamekeepers
