I know many born again, spirit filled Christians who have not received tongues. Can someone explain?
@thosewhobelieve122 Жыл бұрын
Do they deeply desire this gift? God gives us desires and promptings and then He fulfills those desires and promptings. I know Christians who don’t want this gift badly. Needless to say, they don’t have it. When I pray for gifts, I also pray for a great desire for those gifts. I already have at least 3 spiritual gifts and I’ve been born again for less than 2 years. I got tongues and Holy Spirit baptism a month after water baptism on Pentecost Sunday. I was crying out to God for this gift practically every day for a month until it happened. I cry out to God for other gifts now, and I have faith He will give them to me in His time. Too many people decide God doesn’t want to give them a particular gift and they don’t pursue it. And they probably won’t receive it. The scripture says that without faith, it’s impossible to please God.

@@ThatgirlisonHolySpiritfire when you pray, your mind, heart, soul and spirit should all be in unison. When people speak in babbling they have no idea what is coming out of their mouths. The early Christians spoke in other tongues, or glosses, that word in Greek means languages, not babbling, they were given this gift for a period of time so they could spread the Word of Christ. The problem for Adventists and their like is that they have done with the law, the same thing the Pharisees did with the law and that was to abuse the law and the commandments, to tell everyone how righteous they are, *rather than what sinners they are. The abuse the law of the Sabbath do evil, to lift themselves up and become holier than thou, when the law was there to deeply humble and condemn them to hell and torment their conscience* that they might seek Christ. The Adventists and their like refuse to fall on their face before God and admit what sinners they are. *Instead, the Adventist use the law to *"Appear righteous before men"* and then tell everyone how they *"keep the commandments of God"* when they know they don't and never have. Thus, saith the scripture: Rom. 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, *working death in me* by that which is good (the law) ; *that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.* But, they don't see themselves as "EXCEEDINGLY SINFUL" Instead, the Adventists and their like say that the commandment makes them *exceedingly righteous!* as did the Pharisees. Rom. 6:23 For the *wages of sin is death* ; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were *by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death* .Rom. 6:23 For the *wages of sin is death* ; but the *gift of God* is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The Adventists don't see salvation as a GIFT FROM GOD, but rather something they have EARNED, through Sabbath keeping. And, that is why Sabbath keeping is so important to them, because they know it is not of Christianity but of the law. And, instead of seeing the law as something that declared them sinners and worthy of hell, they think it brought forth righteousness and eternal life and the name "Jesus Christ" is only a way of showing how that righteousness is attained by becoming a Jew and Sabbath keeper like Christ. Thus, to them Grace and faith is made void the law and the name of Christ is only a means of teaching the law, not the "Righteousness of Faith!" . And, now they deceive themselves and the public daily proclaiming their own righteousness through Sabbath keeping.

@@belovedflorence4109 When a person was freed from their sin and from the curse of the law by the death and suffering of Christ, then returns to the law for righteousness as the Adventist do, there remains no longer a sacrifice for their sins again. Because, they have returned to the bondage of the law of sin and death, they have trampled on the blood of Christ and have done despite to the Spirit of Grace wherewith they were sanctified putting Christ to open shame. Heb. 10:26-30 It's no different than Judas, the devout Sabbath keepers and "Son of Perdition" betraying Christ with a kiss.

Gibberish is not the Biblical tongues. They spoke in languages and they knew what they were saying. Even though for those who didn't know all these languages thought they were drunk. It even lists the tongues they heard them speak. Next to that the Bible says tongues (or languages) are for the non believer so there must be a lot of non believers in our churches for so many to speak it. I am from Europe and a German man who went to Africa heard outside a church the people worshiping witches and other vile creatures according to the Bible in German. When he went in they said they thought they were honouring God and had no clue it were vile creates they were praising. So be very careful if you don't know what you are saying for a man who really had the Biblical tongues spoke in a tribal language and still speaks it till today, knowing what he is saying and understanding it when they speak it to them. He hired a interpreter but he didn't show up so God gave him the language of the tribe as a blessing so he could preach to them.

Now where do you base your judgement on? As you can see mine is based on what the Bible says.

Tongues is a Heavenly language inspired by the Holy Spirit. You're speaking of one type of experience of tongues. Also be careful not to call the things you don't have full knowledge of "gibberish". One day you'll stand before God and have to explain that comment that you're making here on a public platform. In case you may not be correct it's better to argue using less insulting/offensive words especially when the Holy Spirit is involved. I am a born again Christian, baptised by fire and the Holy Spirit and I love praying in tongues. I for sure won't be speaking gibberish. I don't know what I'll be saying but I feel connected to God. I receive His help, His power, His salvation, His miracles when I pray in human languages as well as when I pray in tongues. Anyway. To each his own. Also I'm from "Africa" and this narrative that "Africans" live in tribes, are ignorant, devil-filled and need to be taught everything good and pure by Europeans is tired and colonial in nature. We live in countries which have names, and cities, we are educated and like any other nation of humans on earth we have people who believe in God and who don't. Trust me, we know devil worship and we know how to worship God. Some of the best worship music and sermons and teachings are from "Africa". Educate yourself mum, don't just give weak examples for the sake of trying to make a point.

@@Azjjajssj The Bible teaches that what you call tongues is only used by demon possessed people. Giberish and falling to the ground, etc. are all prescribed as being signs of demon possession. I know there are Christians who just repeat those who were demon possessed so you aren't all possessed but still the Bible shows only what you call tongues to be the work of demons. So you better try reading the Bible. The only thing you can use is sarcasm of Paul and I don't think you want to use that to show your point. Feelings are prescribed in the Bible as dangerous when it comes to these things. It says but the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. Hence it warns against trusting feelings and like I told you from the German guy, they thought they were worshipping God but they worshipped evil instead and they felt the same as you. So if you don't know what you say, you are not speaking the language of God. Remember that Satan and his demons know all the languages. I didn't say the tribe was in Africa, it were 2 seperate occasions but yes it was. Guinnee for example still has a lot of tribes and they all have their own languages. So don't pretend all of Africa is the same. By doing so you make yourself a liar above the gibberish you already speak and might be worshipping evil without knowing it. Your feelings that you think you know God contradict the facts that they were worshipping witches and other evil creatures in the church the German guy walked past. Non of the people understood German hence they thought they worshipped God in a heavenly language. So again I tell you pray to the one and only God and seek for the truth. You are now spreading Hinduism who already did the gibberish thing for thousands of years. Non of the Christians did ever do this pagan practice until a few decades ago. Now come with a Biblical reference where speaking gibberish isn't demon possesion and the people who spoke it had no clue what they were mumbling or stop wasting my time with your lies (like the one that no African country has tribes anymore) for these lies are of Satan too.
