I used to work in Exeter City Library 1969/1970, and then was back there with an Exeter GF in 1972...Exeter was a nice city. Does anyone remember going to the 'Dirty Donkey' pub? oh! nostalgia!

It's a shame there wasn't any footage of the high street, the areas shown are virtually the same as they were in the 70's apart from of course, the Royal Clarence Hotel recently disappearing from the Cathedral landscape....Its always interesting to look back at time capsules of bygone days, although as we age, it's always with a twinge of sadness, as we remember good times that are gone & will never be regained....

This is ver early 70s - mini skirts still being worn! I was around '74 - '77, and then later in the 1990s - Exeter is a lovely town.

St Mary Major (church shown at 01:15) was demolished in 1971.

That's interesting. Where was it exactly? What building replaced it? I wonder why it was demolished.

@@billbogg3857 don't forget a awful lot of the destruction can be blamed on the city council itself.
