Love it! Nothing a little trampoline frame tubing can't fix ... or a "borrowed" piece of exhaust off your brother's project car lol

@green3488 Yep, she's still going strong! We don't use it nearly as often anymore, but she's still in the fleet haha Hope yours has been as good to you as ours has to us!

I personally like the thrifty approach. Especially since I have an 09 Aveo that needs a flex pipe.

I've been daily driving it since that "repair" (about a month or so) and so far, so good haha. And I agree with you, I think it's very gratifying to make things work with what is available haha. Thanks for the view and comment!!

We've been slowly but surely pecking away at body work. There are a multitude of excuses explaining why it's taking us so long, but basically we just don't know what we're doing haha. I didn't want to make a million videos of us trying to straighten panels, apply body filler, sanding, etc. So, I'm trying to get clips as we go and am hopeful that I can make one video that shows all of the bodywork and paint prep. That's the plan anyway haha

is it cause problem if you use pipe instead of flex pipe??
@StaySlyhАй бұрын
@heink3828 I've never had a problem. Especially if using factory (rubber) engine mounts and exhaust hangers!

When you had the leak, was it causing any power loss...
@StaySlyh3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's kind of hard to tell ... the ole girl probably only makes about 100 ponies to begin with haha. On a serious note, I did not notice a loss of power due to the exhaust leak

Thanks for the video. I have a 2019 Aveo that's doing the same thing, not as bad. But I love my car had it since it was new. I don't weld good enough to trust my self under the engine. nor can I jack my car up more than 10 inches. Would you have any advice on using clamps for a repair?
@StaySlyh3 жыл бұрын
I'm no professional, but you may be able to cut out the damaged section of exhaust and replace it with some off the shelf exhaust pipe from your local auto parts store. I think they typically sell sections of pipe that are flared on each end? If so, you should be able to slip the new section of pipe onto the old pipe and use exhaust clamps to make the connection. I've personally never done this (as you saw in the video, I just keep welding in random pieces of scrap pipe haha), but have heard that people are successful with exhaust clamps. I wish you the best of luck, and hope this response was somewhat helpful!

Get some car ramps, a reciprocating saw with a metal blade, and buy a flex pipe section. A couple exhaust pipe clamps will keep it in place

I do not know the answer to that. Luckily, where I live, we don't have vehicle inspections of any kind. I would GUESS that you'd be fine as long as you aren't tampering with the catalytic converter. But again, I do not know. Good luck!!

@green3488 i think having one in the fleet is enough haha We actually used to have a second one (an 09), but we sold it a few years back Yours is just getting broken in! Haha

@StaySlyh I just fixed mine having rough idle.. thought it had an exhaust leak where yours did, but it doesn't.

@StaySlyh Latest upgrades are new catalytic converter, upstream O2 sensor, E3 spark plugs, coil pack, cleaned EGR valve, dyed oil for leak detection, LED gauge cluster lights, slotted and drilled rotors, brake pads, brake bleed, and a lot more. Mine has a hitch, touch screen stereo, backup camera...
