Re-installing the exhaust manifold is tricky on this transverse-mounted engine, given the tight space. This video shows the key steps in getting the manifold/converters into position and bolting them down.
At the very beginning of the video, you can see the "magic angle" required to get the manifold into position behind the engine. The space between the bulkhead and engine is made even tighter by various pipes that occupy this space, but the manifolds are easy to install using this approach.
For some steps, access is easier from beneath the car. I installed the right-side manifold with the downstream catalytic converter in place, but this made things more difficult. I ended up taking the downstream converters off to install the left manifold, so should have done it in the first place.
I hope this quick video summary is helpful to someone. I don't even want to think about what this would be like on a V8...
A final word of advice: try not to snap off any screws... (don't ask how I know this).
