Thanks for taking the time and effort to provide insight into the Viper exhaust. In general, very little information out there on the system, so this is truly valuable information. Out of interest, do you have a long-range tank on your vehicle and did the Viper route around the long-range tank without issue? In addition, I noticed one less mounting point on the rear muffler, has this caused any noticeable issues? Big final question, would you do the upgrade again in retrospect now having firsthand experience? Thanks again, know these kinds of videos consume a great deal of time for a short segment with very little reward.

We don’t have the Long Range tank on this vehicle, I know there is a company that makes a long range tank in SA called Des Sol and they have the branch that fits with the bigger tank. It seems the new viper systems have slightly changed their design on the Jimny. It looks like there is one less but it hasn’t caused any noticeable issues. Honestly Speaking we like the viper system, it sounds awesome especially when on track. Our personal opinion is that the viper is nice on the track but the sound gets abit annoying when doing a very long trip, especially if the trip is more than a thousand kilometres, and I would most probably do it again but on a car specifically for town and track use but not long distance.

@@febuilds thanks. I opted to get the Viper fitted, just picked the car up from their factory. Sound is nice, seems acceptable on the highway, possibly the longer 5 door is a bit less noisy. It's early days, but definitely more torque to hold speed on the highway (something we would expect from any modern 1.5L engine, even 1.2L engines). Fuel consumption looks better for the same driving and engine spools up quicker. Suzuki really dropped the ball on this engine and gearbox (and I owned a Gen 3, which I feel performed better). I don't like all the deletes, but without the deletes, the engine is only suited to town and offroad driving. EGR seems active still, so that will keep Gretta happy. Alas, Suzuki need to remember the vehicle still needs to drive to get to off-roading areas. Yes, I was thinking of the Des Sol tank. Looking at the routing, it may work stock with the Viper. Des Sol have their own free flow that attaches to the Viper branches. Their mid-section mod is for the stock pipe only. Also noted my rear silencer has 2 mounts, but mid pipe skips original mid pipe mount. So maybe unstable.

The comparison of the OEM manifold & the header reveals that the header does not have provision for EGR, what impact does this have on the engine management? Does it trigger a check engine light?

No check engine lights on optimus. And all sensors are still there just slightly lower down

Ernest, the EGR is not bypassed. The flange on the stock header is as flat as that of the Viper. EGR still receiving its allotted exhaust gas. The flows via a recess carved in the side of the cylinder head. The image in the video with the carbon deposits makes that hard to see. The same lovely carbon deposits the EGR deposits in the intake manifold 🙈.

If you are based in south Africa, you can order it directly from viper performance exhausts of from one of their fitment centres throughout the country

Quite a disappointing video, in addition to my previous comment on the EGR, there is no mention of the fact that the catalytic converter has been deleted, potentially making the product unusable in some countries, and the biggest disappointment is the lack of HARD evidence, is there an actual improvement in performance, or are we just expected to accept your "seat of the pants" evaluation?

Thank you for your opinion and view on things, we are not encouraging any viewer to go out any buy this or to do what we are doing, this Jimny is a build, we are not trying to encourage or convince anyone to do any of these things, we are simply taking you along on the journey. Optimus is faster than other jimny’s with smaller tyres and less weight.

Really bad product. Does not fit my lifted Gen4 properly and had to get it modified to fit. (Viper simply told me it does not fit modified jimnys.) Your check engine light will come on every now and then due to the 02 fooler being a issue (Which vipe know about!) They have not been helpful at all. Avoid this product like the plague!

Hi thanks for your feedback, our experience has not been as bad with the exhaust however, I do need to stress that we are not agents or sales people for this product. We are simply just sharing our journey with the build. We noticed the engine light seems to be triggered after prolonged times of the car engine exceeding 5 on the revs. In other words when the car is driven very hard. Just out of interest sake for our personal research do you have a turbo fitted?

@@marionobrega6818 33’s thats really cool, did you do the reduction gears? If not how are you finding the 33’s, how did you fit the 33’s, do you have portals? We have an 80mm lift and 30’s seems to be the max we could fit that doesn’t rub or scrape. I can imagine with 33’s you have to drive the car hard if you don’t have reduction gears
