Very nice leeks John is it hard to find giant veg seeds.
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby113118 сағат бұрын
@@darraghkelly6417 there is a giant veg site on Facebook and they sell various giant seed. I will have leek and onion seed later in the year. Most of the leeks I grow are not from seed. If you take a look at my video on shaving leek heads you will see the way I clone the parent to produce identical young plants. If you grow exhibition leeks from seed you will not get plants that grow alike. There will be a variation of shape and size from the seed. But it’s always interesting as you may end up with a new improved strain for future cloning.

Looking really good John, I have a slight problem with my pips, out of 10 pips growing well, 6 are going to seed already, any idea why this should happen?

I have had this problem in the past with pips.. I think they are very sensitive and the slightest check can send them to seed. I hope the others are ok for you.

Hi John, how much should you water the onions and leeks each week, when do you know to plant them into bigger pots ?
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby11312 ай бұрын
Hello Stu, watering is a fine are and can be the difference between success and failure . Every greenhouse is different . Depends on temperature , weather conditions and type of compost used, also size of pot your in. Only a week ago we had dull cool weather and I only watered once in the week. This week the weather has been sunny and hot. I have had to water every day. Check your pots for weight and feel, you will soon know when to give water. Also remember your plants also need oxygen between watering.

@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131 thanks John, I'm not sure I water enough !

@@stubaker6952 your pots should be heavy when you water, when they are light to handle you need to water again
