Hi John & Mark, an impressive Site and growing technique that shows it is positively right for your area, Everything looks so strong and healthy. My only concern is with the new site and "Drainage of Excess Water" Has this been considered with the Greenhouse and Big growing cage and Shed. I hope this is a major factor as water can devastate plots within hours. I am sure with Mark's attention to detail in the work carried out I have no cause for concern. Well done Mark and keep up the good work, look forward to seeing your videos.

Looking good Marra, John I have a couple of “ heavyweight “ onions that are going to seed. Is it bad practice to take seed from these plants for future use or, would they follow what the parent plant did and run to seed early? Thanks.
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby113120 күн бұрын
Hi Russ, you should be fine to use the seed from first year heads. It is not something I would do every year but I have done this in the past.

What you feedin' 'em?!
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby113126 күн бұрын
Prepare your leek bed in October and apply what ever the soil analysts tell you and there should be no need to feed anything extra. A liquid seaweed is always a good addition throughout the growing season.

Hi John, where do you get your clover Clover compost from … our allotment stopped selling it they seem hell bent on that peat free
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131Ай бұрын
Hi Albert, I have tried peat free and didn’t like it. I will stick with Clover professional until it’s off the market. I think that’s 2028 or maybe 2030. I get mine from my horticultural wholesaler. And I buy 22 ton. I only get it once a year and that’s in October . I do let the leek growers come and get some each year, you are welcome if you need some later in the year.

@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131Ай бұрын
I have had this problem in the past with pips.. I think they are very sensitive and the slightest check can send them to seed. I hope the others are ok for you.

Hi John, how much should you water the onions and leeks each week, when do you know to plant them into bigger pots ?
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131Ай бұрын
Hello Stu, watering is a fine are and can be the difference between success and failure . Every greenhouse is different . Depends on temperature , weather conditions and type of compost used, also size of pot your in. Only a week ago we had dull cool weather and I only watered once in the week. This week the weather has been sunny and hot. I have had to water every day. Check your pots for weight and feel, you will soon know when to give water. Also remember your plants also need oxygen between watering.
@stubaker6952Ай бұрын
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131 thanks John, I'm not sure I water enough !
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131Ай бұрын
@@stubaker6952 your pots should be heavy when you water, when they are light to handle you need to water again
