If you think about it their voices kind of resemble their superpowers. Chen voice is thunderous and hit you like a lightning. Baekhyun's feels like it can illuminate you, is bright and warm. D.O's is strong, powerful and attract you like gravity. Chanyeol's feels like smoke and embers. Like Hot chocolate and a warm blanket in a winter's night. Suho's can be powerful like a waterfall or peaceful like a calming river. Lay's voice is healing. Kai's voice transport you somewhere sexy. Xiumin's is sometimes like majestic icebergs afloat or sweet like ice cream. Sehun's is like a warm breeze on an autumn afternoon. 😊 I believe the current ranking of voices by professionals put them as Chen, D.O, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Suho, Lay, Xiumin, Kai, Sehun. Chanyeol and Suho tend to be put together in the 4th position.

I agree, they all are just so good. Out of the three main vocalists, I may prefer Baekhyun, D.O and then Chen but it's seriously so hard to rank which one is "better" because they're all so different so it just comes down to preference and if I look at their solo music, Baek and D.O are my favorites and I listen to their solo music the most especially Baekhyun's because his music is right up my alley but it's unimportant because all of these ridiculously talented people are in one group and I'm just so grateful and lucky my friend introduced them to me 12 years ago 🥰

DO and Baek are so talented but very different in their preferable techniques, Chen is technically the most skilled, but it's like an iota more than the first two. Things I love - SeKai contemporary dance break + body rolls in an acoustic set because why not? - Kai’s warm honey tone and sexy vibrato and that sexy stare… come on underrated vocal rnb prince!!! - Sehun with his one solid line in What If is enough to show us he can sing… his voice sounds so gentle and comforting… thankfully he got more lines in later albums - genius Lay who cant read sheet music but can play something soon as he hears it, plus the charisma and stage presence mygoddd… alien level of talent - Chanyeol doesnt do basic ass chords, this is extraordinary playing, this is some technical skills bitches bow down and the vocals main vocal level okay?! - Chen’s angelic tone and angelic smile… heavenly… yes I agree, he seems so grounded and normal when in fact he is a superstar - Baekhyun’s crazy vocal gymnatsics combined with that playfulness and cheekiness… staying present in the moment and always interacting with the audience and his members… one of the best performers ever - Suho suho suho… he sounds almost like an instrument, a harp? Sehun and kai were literally teenagers when they debuted. Sehun had a noticeable lisp back then and wore braces to correct it. I think that's why he got so few lines in their early songs. Most of his one liners are iconic tho. Kai and DO are my fave voices in kpop, there's just something special in their tone and delivery that gets me ❤

This video of EXO's acoustic session is a clip from their EXO Planet #3 EXO’rdium concert in Japan -- notice how the titles of most of EXO's concerts always use EXO in the title in some way. What's notable about their "Lady Luck" performance, where you see Chanyeol put down the guitar and become the first one to get up and sing, was the fact that Chanyeol is one of the main rappers of EXO. So, this just demonstrates how ALL of the EXO members are amazing singers, even the rappers. Yes, this performance is from their Tokyo Dome concert. The Tokyo Dome is one of the largest concert venues in Japan and there is an unwritten rule that in order to be allowed to hold a concert there, you have to be able to fill the place to capacity, so there are probably close to 55,000 fans in that audience. SM Entertainment artists and groups such as EXO, TVXQ, SHINee, Super Junior, BoA, etc. are so popular in Japan that the concert promoters actually ask SM when they want to hold their next concert there because they know they will have no problem selling out in a matter of seconds -- EXO literally holds the record for the fastest sold-out concert at 0.2 seconds -- and they will most likely have to hold multiple day concerts to accommodate the number of fans who want to attend. This concert was in 2016, so there were 9 members in EXO at this time.This was the last concert tour where Lay was able to participate because of all the political issues between Korea and China. As you know, Kai, Lay and Sehun are the main dancers of EXO -- as well as some of the best dancers in the industry -- and they also happen to be the members that often have the fewest lines in a lot of EXO's songs, so in concert you will often see them performing solo dances. If Lay wasn't playing the guitar during this acoustic session, he probably would have been up there dancing with Kai and Sehun. (If you notice, the main dancers are the only ones with black pants on. The other members all have white pants. If you continue to watch this concert you will see in the next set of songs why the main dancers are dressed differently. ;D) Fun fact: The numbers on the back of all the members' shirts are significant. As you may have noticed, you will often see them wearing those numbers on their shirts in MVs or in their "Cream Soda" dance practice, etc. because they are special numbers chosen by each of the members. For example: > Suho's number is 1 because as the leader he is No. 1 and he was the first one to be made a member of EXO. > Kris -- a former member of EXO-M (EXO's Mandarin Chinese sub-unit) that left EXO in 2014 -- his number was 00 because he was the leader of EXO-M (It was said that Suho was the mom of the group and Kris was the dad and when you combine 1 and 00 it becomes 100 or 100% complete as leaders.) > Xiumin's number is 99, which the reason is a little complicated -- 88 is morse code for XOXO, which is shorthand for hugs and kisses, or it can also mean EXO like their album title XOXO. Plus, during EXO's "Wolf" MV era in 2013, which is when the idea of their numbers was first developed, Xiumin's teaser promoting their "Wolf" comeback was the 11th teaser released, so 88+11= 99. > Luhan -- a former member of EXO-M, who left the group in 2014 -- chose number 7 because his favorite soccer player's number is 7. > Lay is 10 because he was born in October and also in Chinese there is a saying that uses the word 10 and it means perfection, so it's a play on words. > Baekhyun is 4 because 4th grade was when he started to get interested in becoming a singer. > Chen's number is 21 (Sept. 21) because it's his birth date. > Chanyeol's number is 61 because his nickname growing up was Park Chanho, who is a famous Korean basketball player, and his jersey number is 61. > D.O.'s number is 12 because it represents his birth date (Jan. 12) and it also stands for 12 members of EXO. > Tao -- a former member of EXO-M, who left the group in 2015 -- was 68 because 6+8=14 and the 14th was the date his "Wolf" MV teaser was released. > Kai's number is 88, and his reason is also a little more complex. As mentioned before, 88 stands for XOXO (hugs and kisses/EXO), which was the name of their "Wolf" album, etc. But Kai chose the number because H is the 8th letter in the English alphabet and HH stands for hip-hop, which he used to represent the fact that he is the main dancer. > Sehun is 94 because he was born in 1994.

All of EXO are just gorgeous looking people - I might be biased but personally I think they are the best looking group in kpop. Poor Chen has had some harsh backlash which he totally doesn’t deserve. But I feel like they might have been referring to Chen’s vibes more than looks. He has less of a “Pop Star vibe” & more of a laidback, honest & down to earth aura (much like D.O.). Perhaps he gives this vibe because of his life outside of being a celebrity, being a father & a family man.

This acoustic session really shows D.O.'s immense talent off. I remember how the music industry called Chen one of the most talented singers in the business so that he was often called the best in EXO. Now, most point out Baekhyun's tremendous solo success. However, the best to me comes down to an emotional response and that changes with songs and biases. Enough to say that EXO is a group blessed with an excess of talent in vocals. Thinking of milestones, you are close to ready for the emotional hijack 'Promise', a song which is beautiful on one level, but so special for EXO-L, especially those that were around when it was released.

They have completely different voices, it sometimes depends on who moves me the most in the particular performance or song. But it just depends on preference, i for one love all their voices and can't be bothered to pick a favorite. And Sehun actually has a beautiful voice, it's just unfortunate he gets so few lines, that we can't hear most if it. As for Sehun I want to tell you a little bit about what I know and think, we know that in Korean groups everyone has their own role, their position from the beginning was as a rapper, dancer and mainly "Visual" of the group, so you will find that in the first albums The distribution of lines in terms of singing are not favorable to him, but in concerts they have different genre sections, so if you see a full concert you can see much more of his participation. i'm not an official EXOL but from what i've read over the years, one of the fandom's biggest complaints was Sehun not getting as many lines as he ought to. honestly, it is hard to divide lines equitably, especially in a group where there are very strong vocalists. i'm just glad that Sehun is finally getting more vocal exposure in their albums. 😊i hope he's given more singing lines in future releases.

Them 3 vocalists complete each others. They back up for each others flaws. Baekhyun - He is great in his 5th octave, like his falsettos are to die for. He is the most versatile king D.O. - Never found any vocalist close to his riffing skills/melismas and his voice tone is eargasm. He is my most favourite singer, the most complete singer for me. This is the concert in Japan, there's a slightly difference between this medley and the one from Korea, in Seoul they were much more relaxed and funny and the medley was longer , with LAY's solo part too In general, the korean fans received always a special treatment , I mean they saw EXO's playful and chaotic side, but also more skin ( Sehun and Baekhyun's nacked torso 😁)

Sehun in earlier days had some of the worst line distributions i have ever seen in kpop. In some songs he did the E.X.O only in others he only said “yeah” cmon” and some “ahh” then bounced. It was like that up until the Tempo/kokobop promotions.😂

The holy trinity are all so incredible and make up 3 of the top 4 best vocalists in 3rd gen (and beyond). Technique wise Chen is a slight cut above the other two, he has incredibly well developed support spanning two octaves and he has the best lower range of any tenor in kpop, although it isn’t showcased as much as it should be. Baekhyun and Kyungsoo are pretty level with each other, Kyungsoo has the better mixed range (support) and agility while Baekhyun has the better lower and higher register. All of them compliment each other so well, Kyungsoo with his runs, Baekhyun with his head voice and falsettos, and Chen with his massive belts. I will never get tired of listening to them sing!!

As for their vocal ability, I'm no expert, but I think because D.O. is a fabulous actor (he really is), he can put an extra element of meaning and emotion into his singing. Baekhyun is Korea's anthem singer and "anthem singer" suits him well because he's able to project and hits the loud, dramatic notes beautifully. I've always thought that Chen was the ultimate singer though, because of not only his range but also his ability to hold a note impossibly long. Then there's his tone, which is so different from everyone else. If I had to rank them, which is impossible, I'd rank Chen first but I'd be at a loss to choose the second place.

I SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FEEL ABOUT YOUR OPINION ON CHEN, Nevertheless, I respect it. But let me just tell you something as a matter of factly as a person who have seen EXO multiple times up close. Chen is actually breathtaking in person.They are all gorgeous, but Chen has this angelic aura even before you hear him sing. In the fandom, we have a word 'JONGDAE'd ' to describe first time EXO concert goers who exit from the venue star-strucked by Chen. If you see them up close without make up on, you would see that Chen has a different facial bone structure amongst EXO members; his is more prominent, more manly but more approachable. My apologies if I sound too defensive. When it comes to Chen, after all he'd been through and being somewhat least simped and hyped,which he does not deserve, i feel like i have a responsibility to tell people some facts and counter people's presumptions.
