The thing with SM idols is that no matter their official position, they're all vocalist one way or another. Like Yunho from tvxq, waa considered a part of the 'rap line', as far as I know, but like the rest of tvxq, his vocals are really top notch. SM focuses on vocals, which is why all of their artists are great singers, no matter their official position.

The main vocal line is: Chen, D.O., and Baekhyun The Rap Line: Chanyeol & Sehun (Chanyeol also has an incredible singing voice, you should look up his performance of All Of Me) But what's so great about EXO is that even the members who aren't considered to be part of the main vocal line (Suho, Xiumin, Lay) also have nice voices that compliment and can hit ranges that some of the other members can't. BTS is my favorite group, I’m an army through and through, and always will be, I got to know them and fell in love, BUT I have to say.....EXO 😭 their vocal team is SO strong. I’m not surprised at their popularity AT ALL. Each vocal is the PERFECT mix of pure talent and technique and their voices shine in equally beautiful but different ways. Chen, Baekhyun and D.O are considered the main vocals since they have the best technique. Suho, Lay and Xiumin are lead vocalists but they are also very good and in my opinion should have the title main vocal as well. And then there is Chanyeol, Sehun and Kai the rappers though I think Kai is more of a lead vocal since he doesn't rap very often and he really improved especially this year. Chanyeol is not on a main vocal level but his deep raspy voice has its own charms so I really like his voice as well. Unfortunately Sehun didn't have a lot of opportunities to show his vocal skills.
