Baekhyun have a hard time for the first recording of wolf in 2013, he didn't said back then exactly that song but he said he was having a hard time that's why the story of his fearless bracelet it was a gift from one of his teachers, she told him he used to be fearless but at that time he wasn't so she gave him that bracelet with the fearless engraved so he always remember that, years later baekhyun said wolf was one if not the most difficult song for him and is that infamous demo you can heard he have a hard time but he overcome and now he can do pretty much everything

you know i remember yixing (a member of exo) once told a trainee when you are hitting a note it's better to make it look like it's a hard thing even if it's easy for you, you know for the show, to impress ppl. so i'm thinking it's what the vocal teachers (at least in sm entertainment) teach them. it makes sense tho, i've seen a lot of ppl's reaction to these kind of vocal performances and except vocal teachers everyone else (regular ppl) always seem very impressed when a singer do this like when their neck veins pop out (you once said it looks uncomfortable), so i thing it's ok, for the show

Baekhyun had to start from scratch on his singing and vocals when he joined sm, but literally only had a few months to change it as that was when they were deciding on what members to put in the group. Also fun fact is that Chen and baekhyun were actually cast from the same sm audition about a year before Exo debuted. Check out miracles in December which is Chen baekhyun and d.o and el dorado !!!!!

I agree with you Sam, I do think in kpop they push singers to do that scream like forced notes. I can't really complain because I do love those. The most impressive thing is this is just one song in their concert. Sure they use audiovisuals to take breaks, they also talk for a while and not all their songs are that demanding but still the fact they can mantain their quality for over two hours blows my mind.

yessssss love this video!!! when you said you didnt expect the voice coming from chanyeol i thought about how you should react to him performing 'all of me' by john legend. chanyeol is originally exo's main rapper, but since he's such a skilled vocalist as well, he's been able to do a lot of vocal performances and record quite a lot of singing on their albums in the recent years. chanyeol and chen's duet 'if we love again' would also be good for a reaction. idk i'm coming off as a chanyeol stan here and i totally am but i think it'd be cool to hear you analyze his vocals when his main focus in the group is to rap!! also chanyeol is so so passionate about his music, it really jumps out hard when he sings and he even said he prefers singing over rapping!! anyways keep up the great work, i always drop whatever i'm doing to watch your videos whether they're kpop related or not

EXO and other SM artists maintain their vocals while dancing through their practice of singing while running on treadmills. But I totally agree that EXO has incredible vocals, and each of their vocalists has a different tone and color to their voice. Baekhyun has that gritty tone almost like a rock singer (I heard he learned to do those kinds of high notes from TVXQ's Changmin, since they both have similar vocal styles). D.O. has a smooth R&B tone that's rich like chocolate. Chen's voice is unique in pitch and he can hit some incredible high notes. There's Suho, whose vocal style is more like warm butter on toast and makes you feels happy. Xiumin's voice is soft and he's EXO's secret high note king, as he can sing notes higher than what Chen can hit (which you can hear whenever you listen to EXO-CBX). And lastly, there's Lay who has a gentle voice that maybe isn't as refined as everyone else's, but it has a sweet tone to it that feels like being wrapped up in a fluffy blanket. Without that vocal variety, EXO wouldn't be EXO. Even the rappers have really nice singing voices! And the blending they do with all that vocal variety is just amazing. I think checking out EXO's MAMA (which was actually the song that opens the concert that this video of Wolf takes place in) would be intriguing, since it has Gregorian chanting and a heavy metal sound that highlights how awesome their blended vocals work in even such a strange musical setting.
