I personally feel like the higher music quality box design would be best. Either way it’s going to have an insane amount of bass, and I understand your second thoughts because if you’re spending that much to make a loud system you obviously want it as loud as possible, but if this was my build and my decision I’d let those insane subs do their thing in a box designed for music quality. Hope my input helps!

EXO, I have been so excited about the 12 18’s!! It’s like ridiculous just to see how phenomenal the SPL will be, seeing how you had two sounding in Little Blue!! I say, go for it with the 12 18’s. Agree this build needs to be insane, "music quality" on a huge subwoofer is anyway subjective

I really like the look of the first option but I would personally shoot for music quality. However, there’s going to be so much subwoofer action that going for sound quality may not be worth it. I definitely feel for the mixed feelings you are having. I get them every time I plan out a build.

I think your 6th design is the way to go. It's the next most efficient to a ported box and you can get that crazy bandwidth. I just got a design from Robert Moon with Exxotic Audio. It's only for 2 Xv2 12's nothing like your monster. It's projected to be +/-6db from 23 to 98 hz. Im so glad I didn't go my usual route of building a slot port to manufacturer spec!

I think with the amount of time and money you have put into this build, you will be happier with sacrificing for sound quality. Do you really want an spl only vehicle? Or do you wanna be able to cruise and listen to tunes. That's the difference I would say. Numbers are cool, but not as cool as being able to listen to your favorite song on full tilt and not having to worry about your woofers not being able to handle it because of tight tuning. Also with the amount of cone area and box rigidity you should be able to put up impressive numbers on music, which in my personal opinion is way cooler than being able to do a ridiculous number at 60hz and that's it. Unless you are trying to break records, then go for the one note wonder. I'm not sure you are the type of person who will be satisfied with a system that is basically a show only type of thing. Also if you are going that route, expect to never be satisfied. You will always be chasing that extra tenth of a decibel. Ain't worth much but that's my 2 cents.

You are suffering from analysis paralysis. I run into this all the time. It doesn't help if you have any form of ADHD. It's a miracle you found 4x8 BB. That's like finding a unicorn these days. I am no expert at all but since it's your vehicle and you have an issue with the higher frequency base I would shoot for that lower end but that's also what I like. You should be comfortable in your own vehicle so think about what you want to hear or what you would listen to most and tune for that.

In regards to the baffle... I've followed my gut before and scrapped progress to get what I really wanted, and I've trudged ahead knowing I risked regretting not following my gut. It turns out okay no matter which path you take generally as long as you fully commit to either. I'm more inclined to cut my losses and go with my heart rather than deal with the mental torture of feeling like I screwed up. I'd go ahead and redo the baffle if it was me. Just try to salvage and repurpose the work you've already done later on. Any way it goes, your build is going to be insane for sure. Can't wait to see the final result.

Man, seeing you go through this big of confusion and stress over what to do next making sure the results are exactly what you want hits home. I’ve been doing this every step of the way on my little baby build. If I was in your position, with the subs, and the van. I almost don’t know if I couldn’t go without doing a 6th order or maybe infinite baffle. The bandwidth alone is everything. Putting up a number is cool and all, but the demo’s and peoples reactions are everything to me. Numbers only mean anything to other people chasing numbers. I know what my number is, but it’s so much less important than the person sitting in the passenger seat for me.

Hi Exo. I just went thru making that same decision. Coming from a numbers guy, Previously had 4-15s in a 4th did great on numbers and decided to a 6th with 3-15s. Im liking the lower extension. But also I was burping at 54hz. Now it's peaking around 48hz. Have really metered yet full tilt since I'm on new recones. Wouldn't ind doing my 63 or 64 around 45 to 48hz. Maybe 59/61 around 35 hz range since my music is mostly 35 to 40hz. Go with your initial thought process but make it so you can test and tune and change of you wanted to.

My buddy in Vegas (drives the lifted soulcrusher truck) had a wall for years. I slowly watched him add a db here and a db there at shows with a wall. After years, he tapped out at about 173 db. Then, he switched to a 6th order and within about a year and a half of fine tuning it, he broke a 180! He also does something like a 163 at 20 hertz. 6th order builds are the way to go for spl and windy applications. I don't see walled vehicles competing as well.

Great job on the build so far. Its nice to see some craftsmanship and attention to detail. Keep up the good work and go with your gut. Its gonna be sick no matter what you decide

Hey exo, I personally would love to see the return of how musical Frankenstein was… you always love having the low lows on music. So personally I would love to see you go with a more musical style, and go for endless demos with all us bass heads👌🏻👌🏻 keep on keepin on!

Terror lows!!!! You have crazy amounts of cone area, tune low and the higher hits should still be gnarly!!! Cone area is King!

Music if you plan on doing some nice doors as well. Demoing is always the best for big smiles. Which you say you love. I'd go for what's gonna sound best; with enough power it can be loud and enjoyable + put good numbers up.

Such a hard but important decision! Me personally i would prefer bandwith over max spl. So you can play anything you want, and not regret you only can play some small freq bands.

I would go for the matching ports on each side. I like seeing different looking builds. No matter what u do theres always someone with more money and a louder setup. Do what makes u happy. Going to be stupid loud overall with any option u pick

A 4th order with subs facing towards center of vehicle, 6 per side, and the port runs from front to back, floor to ceiling. I wouldnt go less than a quarter of total cone area for the port size or you might start getting to high of port velocity.
