I actually love how laid back the song is. SeChan really gives out that vibe. They really did a great job with this song. It's just fun and not too much to listen to. It's like a drive along the coast with the wind on your face.

Their songs are not much complicated, but there are some tracks that are simply feel_good songs to me .... plus the melodies chanyeol writes are super catchy ... they get stuck in your head like crazy when you think you're never gonna listen to the songs anymore 😂😍 ( Sehun's On me is the most interesting one and Rodeo is my personal favorite , it makes me emotional )

Am i the only one who thinks SM has always embraced R&B more than other agencies? It's Yoo Young Jin's influence most likely. SJ songs from way back had a lot of it and so do EXO songs, although most of them are b-side tracks. I actually think they make it a point to choose at least one main vocal that fits the genre in every group. People who don't listen to the discography just don't discover it.

It's a well-timed, chill, summertime song, like you guys said! I definitely agree that it's a more R&B sound that we don't get to hear a lot with SC given their generally hip hop-oriented direction as a unit, so this was really refreshing to hear from them, haha. My personal favorite tracks off the album were Fly Away with Gaeko and Chanyeol's solo with Nothin'! The Gospel influence with Fly Away was so strong that I couldn't help but feel like I'd gone to church with that one, while Nothin' was a really nice break from a generally upbeat album with a more mellow rap and great vocals from originally-supposed-to-be-a-vocalist-king Chanyeol!

What I like about this unit is because their vocals are also being showcased. Especially in the case of Chanyeol since EXO-Ls tend to forget he's also a vocalist and tend to overlook his vocal contribution to EXO songs with his harmonization and back vocals.

I really like the laid back feel of the song, it doesn't try too hard or anything and it's easy to listen to. Plus, SeChan's vocals in contrast with Moon's fresh and light vocals sound really nice. SeChan delivered this time.

One of the things that I noticed is the song is mostly in pentatonic, and whenever there is subdominant or leading tone in the melody, it never resolves explicitly. This gives the song a more summery aspect I think, as a lot of other summer kpop songs also have pentatonic melodies, including their last year's title track What a Life. This also what made this song doesn't have a lot of tensions harmonically hence the tensions and releases are expressed in other ways (rhythm and density of the sound layers?). I also noticed that many of the tracks of the album also has pentatonic traits, so I think it is one of the things that they wanted us to associate with their music, maybe? I hope this make sense😅😅

I really don't know how they do it, but in a way they know what to give each artist. At least I think that here, 1 Billion Views was like a glove to EXO-SC. I've read interviews from songwriters that have worked with EXO, I think most of them listen to the discography, know the members' voices quite well, and (most importantly) they've watched their concert videos so the writers and the AR team actually know what goes well with their voices and what will shine when EXO performs it. But as for EXO-SC, they made the songs themselves so they really went with the style that they wanted. I don't know if SM actually wanted these songs lol because the boys have said on radio that they called up radio station PDs themselves, and Sehun said SM rejected his solo before he really pushed for it.
