I personally feel like the higher music quality box design would be best. Either way it’s going to have an insane amount of bass, and I understand your second thoughts because if you’re spending that much to make a loud system you obviously want it as loud as possible, but if this was my build and my decision I’d let those insane subs do their thing in a box designed for music quality. Hope my input helps!

I am planning something just like this for my van. I have a 2011 Ford E-350 v10 twelve seater van that I am gutting and am getting a lot of inspiration from this. I dont know what I am going to do with funding the full thing yet but at least getting started with the van prep now. GG EXO!

EXO, I have been so excited about the 12 18’s!! It’s like ridiculous just to see how phenomenal the SPL will be, seeing how you had two sounding in Little Blue!! I say, go for it with the 12 18’s. Your genius will figure out how to balance the sound quality; you always do!!! Thanks for the continuation of the Bass Van build! Go EXO!!! You got this! 🔈🔥

I think your 6th design is the way to go. It's the next most efficient to a ported box and you can get that crazy bandwidth. I just got a design from Robert Moon with Exxotic Audio. It's only for 2 Xv2 12's nothing like your monster. It's projected to be +/-6db from 23 to 98 hz. Im so glad I didn't go my usual route of building a slot port to manufacturer spec!

I think with the amount of time and money you have put into this build, you will be happier with sacrificing for sound quality. Do you really want an spl only vehicle? Or do you wanna be able to cruise and listen to tunes. That's the difference I would say. Numbers are cool, but not as cool as being able to listen to your favorite song on full tilt and not having to worry about your woofers not being able to handle it because of tight tuning. Also with the amount of cone area and box rigidity you should be able to put up impressive numbers on music, which in my personal opinion is way cooler than being able to do a ridiculous number at 60hz and that's it. Unless you are trying to break records, then go for the one note wonder. I'm not sure you are the type of person who will be satisfied with a system that is basically a show only type of thing. Also if you are going that route, expect to never be satisfied. You will always be chasing that extra tenth of a decibel. Ain't worth much but that's my 2 cents.
@tigerelectronics59662 жыл бұрын

You are suffering from analysis paralysis. I run into this all the time. It doesn't help if you have any form of ADHD. It's a miracle you found 4x8 BB. That's like finding a unicorn these days. I am no expert at all but since it's your vehicle and you have an issue with the higher frequency base I would shoot for that lower end but that's also what I like. You should be comfortable in your own vehicle so think about what you want to hear or what you would listen to most and tune for that.

Man, seeing you go through this big of confusion and stress over what to do next making sure the results are exactly what you want hits home. I’ve been doing this every step of the way on my little baby build. If I was in your position, with the subs, and the van. I almost don’t know if I couldn’t go without doing a 6th order or maybe infinite baffle. The bandwidth alone is everything. Putting up a number is cool and all, but the demo’s and peoples reactions are everything to me. Numbers only mean anything to other people chasing numbers. I know what my number is, but it’s so much less important than the person sitting in the passenger seat for me.

In regards to the baffle... I've followed my gut before and scrapped progress to get what I really wanted, and I've trudged ahead knowing I risked regretting not following my gut. It turns out okay no matter which path you take generally as long as you fully commit to either. I'm more inclined to cut my losses and go with my heart rather than deal with the mental torture of feeling like I screwed up. I'd go ahead and redo the baffle if it was me. Just try to salvage and repurpose the work you've already done later on. Any way it goes, your build is going to be insane for sure. Can't wait to see the final result.
