Superb work! AN1x is still one of my favourite synths. I've gotten plenty of nice EP sounds from it, but that dire dire docks one is especially sweet!

Thanks :) yeah, I did a remake of that whole track with a different instrument, but I think the AN1x patch is the best version of it. I loved Mario 64 and have played through it multiple times over the years. Something about that game - it’s just the best. I actually love the somewhat terrible aesthetics of the N64.

Great patches man. One Of the classic VAs. I have a Nord Lead 2x, and Virus c previously, the An1x is still the most analogue sounding if you ask me.

Yeah, AN1x is definitely up there. I personally would probably still rather have my virus TI though. Although I don’t know if it’s as “analog sounding” as the AN1x. Thanks.

When I saw your comment (like all comments), it doesn't show up attached to any of my videos when viewing from my phone. I wondered what synth of mine would remind someone of that. I was certain it was the Chroma Polaris, if I had to guess. Was a bit shocked to see the comment on my AN1x video! Interesting. Was there a particular patch that made you think that?
@barneyfinch82672 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA in particular the most of the sounds have this Oberheim flavor in it. The filters, the OSOs octave and fine tuning and stability / instability, something organic which reminds me a lot about the OB 8 and more OB-Xa. :) It didn't sound like some Juno or Jupiter. It also don't sound like some Yamaha CS synth at all.
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
@@barneyfinch8267 Wow - interesting. I guess this is sort of why I like it so much. I wish it felt at least even a little high quality though. Yamaha really skimped on that part!

@@MIDERA i totally agree with you! Yamaha is working on the AN-X right now. Im really excited. Something you might not know: the AN1x is a Dave Smith Synth! He done the most work on the sound engine and filters and he put allot of the AN1x into his Poly Evolver. Its crazy, i just read it yesterday

I was wondering the same thing. doesnt the anx editor work also? if so then the answer is maybe yes....
@thesrabbit3 жыл бұрын
@@xisotopex so, after some research (aka rtfm), it does indeed work! The only thing is that for any parameters the an200 doesn’t have, it’ll just use the defaults. For example, the an200 only has 1 fx slot, and the AN1x has 3, so I think if fx are part of the patch, they won’t have any effect when you send it to the an200. Also tried it out with some patches and it appears to work just fine. I just got the XGWorks with AN200 editor running on my M1 Mac with wine-crossover. I can make sounds on my an200 again!
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Did we ever figure this out?
@thesrabbit2 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA yup, it works. Any parameters that the AN200 doesn’t have will just be ignored. So that’ll likely be the FX, since the 200 only has 1 slot.

@MIDERA3 жыл бұрын
No, I don’t normally use aftertouch, so I didn’t include it. If I were to, I’d likely use it for cutoff, but I find modulation of cutoff to be offensive on the AN due to low resolution of the parameter.

Is the an1x hard to program?
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
It is not. I think once you get passed the sort of matrix system (press this button to access these 8 parameters) you fly through it. More importantly, everything you do kinda sounds good, making it even easier to do things on it. I think I wrote more patches on the AN1x than other gear because I just enjoyed making patches. AN1x is a very very good synth.
@AnalogFlava2 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA well, thats comforting to know. Might have to get one now. The only other minor concern would be that it seems to sound very distinct in an old-school setting, especially with those plucky trance leads. But then again, so does the JP8000 :)
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, the AN1x has better filters than the JP8000… but maybe that’s just me trying to tell myself I don’t need the JP.
@AnalogFlava2 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA I can only say that I really enjoy the jp8000 although haven't gotten to use it too much yet (waiting for midi interface) But only thing I wish that would make it sooooo much better is if they would have made it multitimbral like the novation nova from the same era which has 6 parts. The Jp8080 has 2 parts, a lower and higher. So you can combine to sounds making it like one big or two different layers but not 6 like the Nova which might be my fav, so underrated!

Hi Midera. Hows the an1x patch uploader program? Can you pick which place you put separate patches, or is it just bulk thing and when u switch on an1x, patches are by default 0-60? Thx

That's a good question - I just uploaded via sysex. I imagine it would just overwrite anything at 1-64. I haven't tested it though!
@elsongs3 жыл бұрын
You upload the batch bank to AN1x Editor, and select the different patches to demo them. You can save the active individual patch to anywhere you want on the AN1x's internal bank through the normal patch save button.

I have the AN1x editor so I’ll see if I can upload to that.
