I love how these steel pan orchestras always look like they’re having so much fun playing! I’d die to see a live performance-

@@jameswest8280 Right? That's a true example of resiliency, creativity and alchemy I think. To look at the oil drum and repurpose it into something that makes beautiful music for the world. I love this so much!

Listen to that Orchestra !! Pure liquid sounds. Makes me so proud to be born this part of the hemisphere and see that we can offer the world beautiful music from simple steel drums. Now that's what you call one of the wonders of the wirld.

Well said, but steel pans are no longer simple; they have evolved into very sophisticated and expensive instruments. Like you too am proud of our steel pan and share a thought for our pan pioneers and the trials they had to face.
This is one of the sweetest sounds of the Caribbean "Steel Pans" but it's a very difficult instrument to learn. As a Trini-Rican, my uncle in his hay days was a part of one of the largest steel pan groups in T&T and he tried teaching me how to play the instrument, but I never caught on. You have to have extreme talent boy especially the guys that are playing multi-pans. OMG!

Exodus is one of the best steelpan orchestras in the world, varying from top notch to absolute expertise; Exodus' pannists can do it all. Great thanks to the cameraman for visualizing all of this, and it's always good to see Exodus' pannists; and even greater to get to see the whole performance live as they are multi-Panorama winners.

I have heard open air recordings of All Stars from Miami that are excellent. You are finding an excuse for a lack of professionalism on the part of the T&T TV company who transmit a disgraceful product. Pan music will struggle to get a wider audience if the product from the premiere competition is transmitted at such a low standard of sound quality.

How do those bass drummers drum behind them? Is the area they have to hit a lot larger than on the smaller drum? I know on the smaller drums, the tuned area isn't that large.
@Sajen0067 жыл бұрын
You're correct, in fact, the area is a lot bigger! On the 6-pan basses, there are only 3 different notes, making for a rather large playing area for each one. For contrast, a soprano pan usually has one pan, usually with 28 notes. To be fair, it's surprisingly easy to play behind your back once you get your muscle memory trained for it!
It sounds ok for those who wonder why i say that listen this same sound (gold) played by National lottery third world steel Orchestra it will blow your mind
