How's it holding up? I want to get one but the nightmares of reliability scares me

@@ebloulou4203Same. But if I do get one I'll get it at Carmax and buy their warranty so I can ride without constantly thinking about it. Just be ready to eat the depreciation when you want something newer.

Took me a while to get used to people looking at my car all the time. The black W222 feels like a wolf surrounded by little lambs.

“You don’t feel potholes; you don’t feel bumps.” I’ve owned a W220, W221, and W222. You can definitely feel bumps and potholes in all three of them. Potholes are the S550’s worst nightmare. Do you know why? Because this 4500 lbs car has an Achilles heel - and it’s potholes. After replacing 2 bent wheels in a two year period for 900 bucks a piece, and highway steering wheel vibrations/shimmy that we can’t fix for the life of me, you start to pay attention to the associated problems with owning this fine luxury automobile. When you start hearing creaks and rattling struts after 60k miles you start wondering if MB is really the “Best”. For the first 5 years of ownership, sure. After that, not so much. I also have a 2017 Genesis G90, that’s the best luxury car under $40k. No creeks, rattles, bent wheels, etc. Don’t even get me started on the best luxury car under $4k - my 1998 Lexus LS400. Best got damn car I’ve ever owned. After 20 years of ownership - most of it my father’s - and 275k miles, the beast is still running strong. No creaks, no rattles, and she drives just as smooth and as true as she did the day my day bought her! Most of us buy S-Class because it’s a status symbol. Some of us - such as myself - buy it because it’s a wonderful car to drive. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, though. If you don’t have deep pockets, or you’re not a moron with your reserve capital, look at a LS460 L or a Genesis G90 Ultimate. You won’t be disappointed, and your wallet will thank me. You’re welcome!

I have never hit a massive hole with any of my cars, clearly you aren't paying attention if you aren't actively avoiding bumps in the road.

Yea I think you never owned one of these, because from my experience, you're full of shit.

I've had my W221 for 9 years and have primarily commuted around LA. I definitely can feel potholes and have bent my rims a quite few times. Still a great car regardless - just make sure you have a great warranty.

As a former Mercedes owner, I swore that once I donated it to charity I would never buy another Mercedes for the rest of my life. If you don't mind having one electrical problem after another, and constantly having warning lights on the dash, and one appointment after another with the local Mercedes specialist, by all mean buy one. If you want a luxury car that doesn't constantly need repairs buy the big Lexus. It's only slightly less opulent than the S class, but nothing breaks down.

Which specific Mercedes did you own?

@@BigJ0hn_steez and now hes referring to a Mercedes god knows where he got scammed with, lol I never heard this shit from anyone else and our family has owned several Mercedes cars from the oldest of generations to the w222, whatever came after the 2019 Mercedes cars is just shitty, but idk if hes talking about the one before
