Tailless whip scorpions aren't scorpions either, they're just another form of arachnid related to spiders and scorpions. Kind of like how a daddy long leg isn't technically a spider.
They're Opiliones - Harvestman. Of course by "daddy long legs" are also known cellar spiders - Pholcidae.

Like others said it's a Pseudoscorpion. Here in Sweden we call them "Book scorpions" (free swe/eng translations of me). Scientific name: Chelifer cancroides, and yes they belong to the Arachnid 'family'. These guys buffet would be: Liposcelididae (Barklice), we call them 'Book flee' here. Springtails (Collembola) and mites & tics is also on the menu. And yes! It can run backwards AND sideways with no trouble stumbling on it's own 8 legs.

Up here in the, not, cold North we are familiar with this tiny Arachnid. They can be easily found among archives, book depositories, news stands and wherever bound paper is being stored. The Book Scorpion is really a type of spider in which the front legs, for whatever reason, has turned to mimic the pincers of a scorpion. Here, they grow to be approx. 1-1.5 centimeters in length and assume a light tan brown coloration as adults. Non-venomous and generally even tempered, to my experience, they do not object to being handled as adults. Great vid.

I found a pseudoscorpion crawling around in my cupboard just a couple weeks ago! First one I’d ever come across, though I could immediately tell that this little critter was something I’d never seen before. Apparently these little scorpion like critters hitchhike on the legs and under the wings of bigger bugs, and that’s how they travel, being as they’re so small and have no wings. They DO have venom in their claws, but of course it has no effect on humans, and they’re too small to break a humans skin anyways. Neat little guys that basically are a whole category of their own, since they aren’t quite scorpions and aren’t quite arachnids, though they are usually lumped in with them.
@freak20315 жыл бұрын

Pseudoscorpion, they are pretty cool little buggers that live on every continent and go largely unnoticed because they are the best non-mite hiding arachnids. They apparently don't live in Antarctica to our knowledge, however it'd be pretty cool if it turned out they are just that good at hiding.

little dudes movement strongly resembles the movement of the jumping spiders i interact with from time to time, except, for the jumping of course, but the constant caution, backward movement and only walking 1-3 centimeters at a time, definitely similar. combined with the ability to climb plastic, probably related to arachnids, rather than scorpions, or whatever their group is called in smart.
