Wolf Spiders are much, much friendlier. We always had a lot in the house, my grandfather would not allow us to kill them. They were so smart, you would see flies and other insects get stalked all the time. They are Stalkers. They will ruthlessly and aggressively patrol your house until they kill everything. But they are so not aggressive to humans it's funny. You can reach down, pick them up in your palm and they will just be happy to chill in your warm hand. They will get in your bed at night, but don't worry they hardly ever bite. They do not rely on venom to kill so their bite is a little less toxic than a mosquito bite. Most of the time, they do not even break the skin. Our cat would sit there and play with the spiders for hours. The cat wouldn't kill them, but the cat would pound them with her paw, the spider would shake it off and rare back and screech and the cat would run the length of the house. The spider would chill and the cat would come back and the process would repeat itself. They are the most common spider and they are found in grass and inside your house just stalking for a tasty bug. They are one of the most dangerous spiders in the world. So if you have small insects like mosquito or flies you can't get rid of, simply let these large predators go. We were against using pesticides and we always did our own pest control, in a rural environment. It's so exciting to watch a big healthy wolf spider get that fly that has been getting in your face all day. Fire ants and cockroaches. Naw just leave it up to the wolf spider that lives in the corner table. They hunt by sight and I guess sound. So we smoke, ashtrays everywhere, my uncle would sit there smoking and the spider would wait patiently an get that fly. Sometimes even jumping off my uncle to catch a fly. But that wolf spider would sit right by that ashtray on that table whenever he would turn on the light at night. The spider would just stare out at my uncle by the ashtray. My uncle never paid that spider any mind. But sometimes that spider would crawl on my uncle while he was sleeping and sit on his hands or shoulder. I swear though, when I would reach into the lamp to turn it off, that spider would jump down and scare the piss out of me every time. It would just leap down aggressively and land solidly on the back of my hand causing my bladder to empty. But the drawer was where my uncle hid the mints he would eat. Living in East Texas, we had a problem with fire ants all the time. But those wolf spiders eat ants. It will eat every single ant and never let a nest develop in your house. They love larvae and will even eat other spiders. It is rare to see, but really it is easy to see why this spider is the MOST brilliant and most friendly spider in the world. Easy to see that this is one of the worlds best hunters. To this very day, I leave wolf spiders where they are. And I totally tolerate them. I freaking love them. It's always funny to watch someone freak out because they suddenly have a wolf spider jump out and bump something and scramble under the dinner table. Or see them just chilling by a small hole in the wall waiting for a tasty ant to walk by. Seeing church ladies jump because a spider ran up their pantyhose. I swear they would do gymnastics. Cartwheels and back-flips, I am telling you. But no matter what I will miss the spiders skimming the water in the bathtub and getting all wet because of the soap. Just run from the hot water tap across the water and be swallowed up by the mounds of suds, climbing up me in the bathtub to get out of the water. Big spiders too. Some of our spiders lived a long time. Getting very big because of the warm environment, plentiful food and having no real predators. I have lost all fear of spiders. I went to the jungle in the Chiapas and I would put my hammock in spider web filled trees, knowing that nothing would enter the spiders domain. Without the wrath of a large tree spider jumping down on them. Wolf spiders are mostly harmless and they are really chill just minding their own business and doing spider stuff. We can all be thankful that we are not carried off by the millions of insects they eat a year. And watching them stalk is so cool.
