I’m really glad to be a Grand Reserve member and to support your channel - and this video perfectly summarizes why. A lineup of wines that are really worth trying; a story and a passionate description for each bottle that (if I were a winemaker) would make me proud of my wine, and above else so much work. So much work. Yes, you share the best and memorable moments, but it’s easy to imagine the long hours in airports too, those late night hotel check ins, the video editings, the preparations for a new content, being caught in the petty wars of the wine industry, the wine press, wine competitions or KZbin creators- and with all this, live the life of a nice human being and run a business. It’s beautiful but it must be tough and you make it look easy, because that’s exactly what talented people do. So I’m glad to support the channel not just for the videos and the monthly chats but to appreciate all the work and care that goes into it.

Thanks for sharing this video and your highlights from 2024 with us. I whole heartedly agree that the best experiences are with family and friends, great bottles, awesome home cooking and intriguing stories and cultivars. And while its nice to drink great Burgundy, Bordeaux, Super Tuscans et all sometimes the best experiences are found in the off the beaten track and out of the way places and wines. Where the wine makers or the owners of the wine shop or wine bar are passionate about sharing their labors of love with you. From the bottles I've had and the events I've been to here in Budapest, Hungarian wine has grown leaps and bounds during the past 5 plus years. Its now not just the famous or well established wineries making great wine. As its become a much more level playing field and wineries at all sizes and levels are making tasty and enjoyable wines. Cheers and all the best for you in 2025 and in your new stomping grounds!

Most memorable wines for 2024 for me were: 2003 Castello di Monsanto Il Poggio Chianti Classico Grand Selezione (for my son’s 21st birthday), 2019 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet, 2021 Emilio Moro Vendimia Seleccionada Ribera del Duero, and everything at Terre Et Sang especially their The Patriarch Syrah 🤯! And can’t forget a 1984 Lynch-Bages for my wife’s 40th birthday (not a good vintage but the wine was sound and an amazing experience for everyone to taste a 40 year old wine!) Sharing wine with others really elevates the experience! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. 👏

Dr. 2024 was a bad year for Valencia, the floods did a lot of damage. Perhaps it will be a good idea if you do an episode with Valencia wines to boost their consumption. They have pretty good ones, and cheap also. Cheers.

Wines of the 2024 for me were Vina Ardenza(by far one the best Rioja I’ve had) and Pintia (such an exceptional and complex wine)

All the wines from La Rioja Alta are great IMO (Alberdi, Ardanza, Arana, etc.). I have Ardanza 2010 in my cellar. It will stay there for a few more years.

I would have to say 2022 Casa Marin Miramar Riesling from Chile is high on my list. Along with Tetramythos Amphora Nature Retsina, Keller Limestone Kabinett Riesling, Becker Kalkmergel Grauer Burgunder 2021 and Rijckaert Cotes du Jura Les Sarres Savagnin 2022. Lots of other good stuff too, including many good reds but not that many great surprises. Greetings from Sweden with wishes for a happy new year. Emil

Have fun with the upcoming Icewine episode. icewines have come a long way since the 1990s due to wineries using different grape varietiess aside from the standard Vidal (My two favourite are Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc). If you get the chance, try to look for the Southbrook Vineyard's Vidal Icewine because you'll be in for a BIG surprise. Aside from the 2021, let's see what other vintages are your samples. I'd personally avoid Jackson Triggs and inniskillin as they're too "commercialized"

Inniskillin makes some of the best 'value' sweet wine, ridiculous value - their Late Autumn Riesling is super cheap with everything you want from a Riesling - petrol, vibrant acidity, fruit - and sweetness like caramel. $14 CAD, so like $11 USD in Ontario. No business getting that much varietal character at that price point.

This year I loved all kinds of savoury southern Rhone red wines and cool climate Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Riesling from Ontario, especially Prince Edward County.

I tried Domaine Weinbach gerwutztraminer les treilles du loup 2020, really nice wine, and its not even their top production! I'm really looking forward to trying something else from this producer
