Hi, recently a friend of mine came into possession of a Siskiyou Pinot Noir in a guitar shaped bottle but we can't find any information on it. We have no idea where it came from and don't know if it's worth keeping or drinking or selling. can someone please give us more information?

Every time my local wine shop has had Taylor's Vintage Port 2003 on offer, I've bought it. It has turned into 3 boxes of 6 bottles so far. Normally they cost 1000 Danish kroner (about $140) per bottle, but half price when they are on sale. I have drunk some myself, but also brought some for birthdays, for people who like port. Did I mention that Robert Parker has given it 100 points? I know, it doesn't taste better, because a celebrity gave it 100 points, but it's nice to know, I'm not the only one who likes it 🙂

@@drmatthewhorkey Interesting! Never heard of it, but I live in a town called La Rochelle (biggest town in the cognac region, just north of Bordeaux) and this region used to be called Aunis during the times when France still had a crown. Lots of clubs and businesses still reference Aunis as a historical nod, such as "Aunis Automobiles" and "Aunis Handball" (it's literally everywhere here) I'm looking into why a grape with a name of an unrelated place further south has ended up as a native Loire grape variety, but it seems like it might be lost to history... At first I thought you guys were saying Pinot d'ugni (like Ugni Blanc used to make Cognac), and perhaps there's another connection there? I'll try and keep an eye out for anything Pinot d'Aunis and ask my local wine merchants about it, because it seems very interesting! Thanks for this great video, this was my second time watching it. :)

Hey Matt! In Australia, when we have Turkey I usually opt for a Sparkling Red which is served chilled like traditional sparkling and would appeal as much to the men as the ladies, especially if you call it a Man's Sparkling. Australia produces a lot so we have a surfeit to choose from. When I lived in CA I was able to find some examples for my friends. Remember.. Champagne for your real friends and Real pain for you sham friends. Cheers!

One of the best wines of last year was a white Burg I paid 17€ for. It blew me away. Many times have I been disappointed by budget Burg (<40€) but that was a winner. Crozes-Hermitage and Loire are other French regions I find value in. And now I remember having a great wine from Savoie, paying around 30€ in a restaurant.

Think the biggest issue with it is its generally very light body almost like flavored water in its behavior . That lightness can be seen as cheapness much like a heavy bottle for a wine can make one think it’s more expensive/ better

I recently bought a case of 2019 Jean-Paul Brun Terres Dorées "Les Thorins". moulin a vent. 21€ per bottle. Though here in Portugal the only way I can get it is through Millesima, so it may cost even less elsewhere. That said, I have ZERO problems paying €21 for it. It is an absolutely beautiful and fantastic wine. Gamay at its finest to be sure!

Value for money from France? Cotes du Rhone. Cotes de Bordeaux with the wines from Cadillac taking me by surprise but all these wines need to be about six years of age or the taster won't be impressed. And I think Graves region but I need more experience with the area to be real solid on this one. I might recommend some others but I want more experience with them to be more confident. Also, before I forget, Cremant.

It was while watching a video of a Korean who came to France that I wanted to taste the wines of Savoie, especially Savagnin. It's really out of the ordinary and I really liked it (Côtes du Jura - Savagnin 2020 - Domaine de Savagny - 15.20€). otherwise for everyday use like most people I like "les darons" by Jeff Carrel from Languedoc-Roussillon for €7.2, and as an everyday sparkling wine, and close to champagne, the "prestige" cuvée Louis de Vauclerc in Craonnelle for €12.50.😅

I tend to focus on any region that runs throughout the southern part of France for value. Cote du Rhone all day for those varietals that don't break the bank including a sneaky good Domaine du Durban Rouge I got recently for $18. I was only familiar with their Beaume de Venise, so seeing the red on the shelf was a pleasant surprise. Also Chateau Lilian Ladouys from Saint Estephe is a good value find from Bordeaux. I am currently building up the vertical of this wine and look forward to sharing it with some friends.

Hi Matthew and thanks for a great tasting again! After watching this video yesterday I just managed it today to get the Austrian Riesling to compare to your thoughts at below 30 €. I'm basically more into Grüner/Roter Veltiners from my region but I can totally understand you rating the Gaisberg Riesling at 94 points due to its intensity, roundness and fruit character - really an excellent wine. You should definitely try Gobelsburg's Riesling Ried Heiligenstein as well and in addition the Wachau smaragd Rieslings from famous producers as Hirtzberger, Alzinger, Gritsch a.s.o... - not to forget less famous producers from the right bank of the danube like Lahrnsteig, Fischer and Frischengruber. Best regards from Vienna/Austria!
