I have to point out how cool the animated sequences are for the flying scenes in the original Kirk Alyn Superman Movie Serials. Even though they didn’t have the technology to make Superman look realistic while flying, the film makers side-stepped the whole problem by animating Superman for all the difficult action scenes. There’s something really charming about those animated sequences. They totally work even though you’d think they would look bad but in a crazy way they look great and they elevate those early Superman films to a higher standard. Not only was the transition between live action and animation done flawlessly, but you can tell they used Rotoscope techniques to achieve the desired look they were going for and for me, I give it two thumbs up!👍🏻👍🏻

The animation quality improved substantially between the 1948 *Superman* and its sequel, *Atom Man vs. Superman.* The second serial uses a lot of cel-shaded animation to make the Superman figure look three-dimensional, which makes the hand-off from Kirk Alyn to his cartoon double a lot smoother.

It was mostly done for practical and budgetary reasons. The wire rigs they tested in 1948 were not reliable, and Kirk Alyn was injured when he tried flying on them. Since the serials were low-budget and they didn't want to risk Alyn getting hurt again, animation was what they went with.,

Say what you want about Superman Returns, the effects in that movie and Brandon Routh nailed it. The idea to add sonic booms was added in this movie and was further exemplified in Man of Steel following it. Such a shame Superman Returns had such an awful story, maybe it could’ve gone a little longer and we could’ve seen more of Brandon Routh

I’ve also always loved the realistic heat vision shown in Reeves’ Superman and in Superman Returns(which is supposed to be Reeves’ superman). It’s supposed to be invisible, infrared radiation is not visible to the naked eye. In reality, superman would just stare at things and they would melt or catch fire, no eye glowing or visible beams.

Tom Welling never wore the superman suit in smallville. This was a decision made before making the show by production crew "no tights, no flights" because it was an origin story. In the finale the suit was cgi added. Tom wore a shirt with the superman emblem under his shirt for the scene of him ripping it open to reveal it. That's the closest he got to wearing the suit.

For the time of 1945 the scenes with Superman flying in 1945 those were fantastic for the era! Makes me want to go look for all the old serials! Awesome. I agree. I'm thankful he included the early Supermen. Because they were filmed in black and white they are often ignored. It was even a greater shame in George Reeves case since there was actually plenty of color footage of him from the later seasons of his show that they choose to ignore !
