That solves 3 issues: 1.Batman would realize Superman has an earth mother and that he lives amongst humans passively since he is protecting his mother 2.the name Martha would trigger Batman since his mom has the same exact name and cause him to think more rationally and it would incite guilt (unknowingly to Superman but we know) to Batman. 3."We are being set up" would show he is in this with Batman not against him and that he has the humanity to say he was wrong about Bruce and Bruce was wrong about Clark. He could also listen to Batman here and apologize for any damage done and what was and wasn't his fault. Batman would have had a lot more trust had he went this route but hey they gotta have the fight somehow right?

I know, right? I was honestly having a laugh in the cinema with the theatrical cut, I was sad and disappointed after loving Man of Steel and was just laughing with the 0 sense it made. After watching the extended edition I realized it was art. You can watch the movie 10 times and still spot artistic references, extra dialogue layers...
