I know, right? I was honestly having a laugh in the cinema with the theatrical cut, I was sad and disappointed after loving Man of Steel and was just laughing with the 0 sense it made. After watching the extended edition I realized it was art. You can watch the movie 10 times and still spot artistic references, extra dialogue layers... I’m not a huge fan of this fight, but it *is* way better in the expanded IMAX ratio seen here, because you have the extra geography of the scene to orient yourself even if it takes the form of headroom. Cropped down into 21:9 and it immediately becomes less coherent, especially when combined with the flashy and muddy CGI and visuals. Snyder made the scene for this ratio, also proven by how he failed to include details that should’ve been made visible in 21:9. I never knew Superman put his hand on Batman’s chest to stop him, before pushing him away, it otherwise looks like they just dramatically both stop so Batman can shout in Superman’s face.

Snyder didn’t fail to include anything. If he had to include Superman’s hand on Batman’s armour then their faces would have been cropped out.
