My PlayHouse I have had that screen a few times as well. I would try going in to the IMM and, depending on your raid card, run “Detect Foreign Configuration”. Maybe it is just reacting to the different setup.
@gaborgregus29705 жыл бұрын
Hi Morten, this error message is usually popping up when your drives are not in the same slot as they were before. I assume the reason isnthe expander which changed the slot config. Did you put back all as were before and try?
@sumitxshah5 жыл бұрын
Could be..."Change the slot configuration", on a second thought, if this has to do with swapping the backplane dassychaining, if the old one is also a SASexpander (which I doubt it is) . Also , could be with swapping the power connector side of new card (may be molex connector isn't required to be connected to SaSxpender).
@sumitxshah5 жыл бұрын
Ah! Ok as per scenario 2, nothing has to be swapped on controller or the disk. Ignore my previous comment|analysis.

Are you going to be totally filling all the drive bays up with drives with just 2 backplanes or are you planning on totally filling the whole server with drives including more backplanes and more drives that would make a great video and of course a follow up video to this one can't wait for next server video keep up the great videos

Hi Morten. Maybe a solution, but don't know. Have you checked for the latest firmware. Have experienced that the Raid Controller was updated with the latest firmware but not the Expander card and the Raid Controller was unable to manage the Expander card correctly. Best Regards Niels.

I am expanding my video rendering x3650 m5 i did not use because i had no gpu to put in that. I tought an rx 6700 would do the job better than the previous pc it was an i7 3770 with a gtx 980 ti, still valid. I want more ssd storage and im out of places. Raid 1 for os on 2 ibm 100 gb ssds. Raid 0 of 2 250gb low budget sata ssd. Raid 5 of 4 600gb drives and i want 8 of them + 2 additional ssds to work on. Expander arriving soon

You should put your multimeter on and check the voltage at each pin of the molex connector - I don't think the cut cable would cause the problem. It would only become an issue if the drive bay was completely full of drives and the current carried by the remaining uncut cables was insufficient. If the cut cables are all +12v, you can simply resolder them. If 1 or 2 are earth, then IBM should be shot for bad colour coding. If they are all +12v, which I suspect, then the dipstick who added the molex should be shot - whoever heard of a molex connector with 4 +12v pins? The drive error is due to the numbering of the drives. Swap your drives into bays 1&2 (8&9)of the new backplane and you will boot just fine.

your SAS connections are swapped from your expander to your RAID controller..... if you are looking at the front bezel on the right hand side of your expander. SAS 0 is supposed to be on the left and SAS 1 is on the right... Lenovo makes that very clear in the below guide systemx.lenovofiles.com/help/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.lenovo.sysx.8871.doc%2Ft_installing_8_25_hdd_kit_with_expander.html

You messed up backplanes... New one should use "first" bay where the hard drives are from 0 to 7. Now you have, starting from left 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7.... so raid controller is expecting drives from 0 to 7 and they are in 8 to 15... You have lid with instruction and You still messed up... shame on You! Please let me know if i'm right with connections. I'm working in Data Center in Poland with DELL servers so the connection of the backplanes is assumption, but still, I think I'm right. Unless it is power cable. Raid controllers are dumb, powerfull but dumb. Hopefully it is only Your mistake :) like Your videos! Cheers!

For how much it costs you in electricity and capital expenses why not just use a siacoin-based cloud storage bucket? $5/TB free ingress and egress and way faster than public cloud???
@jibsaramnim5 жыл бұрын
You can’t tinker and learn with cloud storage buckets though ;) (* I mean, you can, but mostly file storage related stuff only. You know what I mean. With your own hardware you can learn about almost everything)
