For those who don't know, the reason Medina station has engines is bacause it used to be the LDSS Nauvoo, a generation ship. In the lore, instead of being built like a tower, most of the buildings are on the inside of the habitation drum, making it more like a spin station than a standard ship. The reasoning is that only a fraction of its 300 some odd year voyage would be spent running the drives, and the rest of the time they would use spin gravity.

Fascinating printer design on the first faction base using landing gears, though a bit complicated. Personally I just use a tug ship to pull out the projection. Can't AFK for it, but it's much simpler overall. Didn't realize the expanse server had so many unique blocks though.

@@alphamatte4259 I built one that works in planetary gravity once. Still used the "projector sled" concept but in rover form, held in place by rails above the wheels and set on the edge of a tall cliff. Needed a few wheel sets to keep it from tilting and the ships had to be able to fly in gravity to take off but after some iteration it worked a treat.

That is some insane building skills going into these grids. I've got many thousands of hours in SE myself but not a not into PVP, but i can absolutely appreciate the work that goes into the server or servers and setting up all the grids. I do enjoy watching PVP content though.

This is a PvE and PvP server! Plenty of NPCs and a full functional economy. Also yeah the players are really skilled and there is a plugin that makes it so epsteins can only point one direction so all ships have to look like they are from the expanse

@@alphamatte4259 I've used Aryx Epstein Drive mod in a few of my worlds too. I have yet to build a proper expanse style ship with the Epsteins and the flip and burn script. I really need to try to do that sometime.

Well this server has been online for about a year without a wipe and the admins don't plan to wipe anytime soon, I may do a ship showcase video though to give people an inner look into some of the awesome designs.

@@SpaceMike3 Yup! You can build whatever you want. There are a few plugins that mechanically enforce expanse style-ships which is cool. 1- Plugin forces all epstein drives on a ship to face the same direction 2- Plugin enforces that weapons can only be placed so close together so you can't make "gun walls"

Small correction here, Ceres is a Dwarf Planet/Proto Planet due to being that tiny and technically still forming. (Seen how its "surrounded" by many smaller rocky bodies that occasionally (on a cosmic scale (see: How long it took for Earth to Form, before some other thing came around, fucked it all up and made modern earth and moon) crash into it.))

I have two questions, first what is the most average warship type that people use. Secondly how big is the average warship?

People tend to had do-it-all ships that will have a decent PDC compliment, 1 railgun, and some torps. Probably around 3000 blocks.

You said "quantum hangar", could you explain what that is?

So - to keep the server performing well you can “hangar” a grid. It disappears and saves it into a virtual hangar. When you “unhangar” it the grid appears right where it was hangared. You can’t hangar with enemies nearby and can’t hangar around Points of Interest.

How do you join this server and how large is the planets / systems?

Discord and server IP is in the description. The system takes about 30 minutes to get from one end to the other. We have high speed and low speed zones. There are maps and such on the discord.
