I've been here 4 plus years. City first , now province. Think you pretty much have it figured out. I will say , the "poor"in the provinces are generally happy and think they live ok. But , on their income it's hard to eat a proper diet unless they're into veggie gardens / farming. Of coarse quality food can be difficult to find here at any price. As for budgets, you're right on about that. In fact I myself over spent building our house and often go over the monthly budget and dip into savings. Now considering (trying) to sell and downsizing to boost cash reserves.
