I feel stupid to say I LOVE YOUR HOME TOWN because I can't think of person who doesn't. I have been living in Hefei for 7 months now and I am amazed. Can't get used to it, surprised all the time and for 7 months I didn't have one uncomfortable situation. Thanks for your hospitality.

I am so confused with your (nativ, Chinese) perspective of Hefei. Many of young Chinese friends ask me questions like"why did you choose Hefei, small and boring...and not Shanghai or Shenzhen" and it's so hard for me to explain how my nation can fit into Hefei, without any problems (I am Serbian)and that even"small" town like Hefei is really, really big for me.(Our capital,of wich I am proud of, Belgrade is around 3 million,tops). I know you are proud of Hefei but you should check your perspective a bit. Have a good one. Chinese friend from Serbia.

Hefei, Anhui was once, one of the poorest cities/provinces in China. It is now a prosperous city and many of the people are now middle class Chinese. Well done, Anhui China.

No radiators. It's all ACs now. And I don't think that Americans use the same term for heating body,and centralised steam heating. (I am Serbian that's the reason I understood your question) Probably that was the reason you didn't get the answer.

I would say don't expect that. The younger generation of Chinese people living in cities usually know a bit. But even for younger people, not everyone is fluent. For adults I would not expect them to speak English.

@@nihaonea you are right,even optimistic I would say. Maybe you live in Shenzhen, Shanghai or Beijing, where young people,as you said, speak English,in Hefei, Feidong, Lujiang or Anxin it's (as much as I respect and love everything about culture and education here) rare. But with a little help of WeChat translation and location features you can easily get a taxi ride in the middle of the night... alone.
