The Philippines is not the prefect place many think it is, there are some very negative things that you really need to consider and balance. Health care here is very substandard and very costly compared to everything else. I do not believe anyone should risk major medical care or surgery here. Have seen it go wrong too many times. They told a friend of mine here in November he had cancer and needed surgery and chemo, along with several million pesos costs. He went back to the United States and signed up for medicare, the US Doctors told him no surgery, just taking some very advanced and costly pills for treatment, but most covered by his government insurance. Another friend fell and broke his upper leg, Medical City charged his US Insurance, over 3 million pesos, the metal plate that put in was not the correct one and backwards, had to be redone within the month, outside the Philippines. Nothing but issues here if you try to deal with the substandard medical. I wish Bill the best, have talked with him over the years, he is a nice guy, He needs to go home at this point.

Wishing Bill the best, hoping he pulls through this i will be giving a donation for sure.I think one of the things we as foreigners do in the Philippines is we eat and drink too many unhealthy foods and drink items. I like Phillipine food, and I also like a burger,pizza, eating out for breakfast, soda, and a beer just like everyone else. But we have to make those things occasional. Most of the time, we need to cook our food and keep it simple meat, vegetables, and fruit and try to keep it healthy as possible especially as you get older. We also need to move and exercise which can be done right in your living place doesn't have to be a gym.Philippines food taste good but the majority of their dishes are high in sugar, sodium and much more and sometimes we have to turn it down. And unfortunately when we are in a relationship we tend to eat out more and make bad food choices. Tell those beautiful Filipinas you are trying to be healthy they will understand because they want to keep you around. And of course, we must have some type of medical insurance it's a must!! We come here to enjoy our life, so let's do our best to extend it as much as we can. So sorry to hear this about Bill hoping he will bounce back 🙏 💪

Thailand healthcare happens to be ranked ahead of the US, the hospital is affiliated with John’s Hopkins in Maryland and if something serious I would be headed there. Philippines healthcare isn’t ranked very high actually at bottom of list.

It's very hard or impossible to get heath care in Thailand or PI if you are over 70 years of age. Always plan to go back to your country welfare system or have emergency funds.
