Sound levitation, strong electromagnetic fields*, wireless power transmission*, wireless PCI-e Gen 5 and sata with transmitters and receivers. Just imagine how your NVMe would float above motherboard. Forget about RGB lighting, blackbody radiation is much cooler (hotter). 48 micropumps with mini waterloops inside of different levitating parts of motherboard. LED screens? That's SO retro. Screen would be projected by 16 mini-projectors on thin layers of vapor from multiple angles. Custom animation schemes for each component of motherboard. *16x16 PSU array is not included in standard complectation

There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for using a resistive touch screen on a product this premium. It is unacceptable and they would have done better to scrap the touchscreen functionality entirely and maybe use lcd buttons or something. The longer this video went on the more it appeared to me that msi tried to make the most expensive toy they could in the hopes that people would see big price and buy. Its honestly offensive to hardware enthusiasts

@@FNFleExZ Hmm, that's kind of true even though many people that have a lot of money doesn't necessarily have the know-how to install a custom loop but I guess they would pay someone to do it for them. The only new GPU I could find for sale when I was looking was the Aorus with the LCD on the side, and it supports GIFs. It's a silly gimmick, but it's fun. It also displays whatever GPU stats I want, with whatever GIF I've chosen playing in the background.

I also have one of those ROG AIOs that have a screen. Can do GIF playback as well and it has some generic ROG animation by default, mostly use it as CPU Temp. The board I have also has a smaller monochrome screen, that one does POST (which is pretty cool because it also does tell you what each code is for), then it switches to CPU Temp. I have a B450 Gaming Pro Carbon. It was recommended as one of the better B450 boards by Buildzoid. I've had nothing but problems. I was on a DDR4 overclocking kick and dialed my timings in perfect. Took me a month, lowering each sitting and testing all day on Karhu and Memtest Pro. Eventually I got them perfect. Before updating my bios I saved the profile on USB. Their newest bios however is incompatible with that profile. On a restart, half the time it just hangs and throws an LED VGA error. If I restart it, it'll boot fine. I'm using an MSI 1070 Ti Duke. Checking their bios revision history one of their first updates was to improve VGA compatibility. I'm assuming they forgot about their own 1070 Ti's. I've sworn off MSI boards.

MSI's motherboards are amongst their worst products. I boought a couple ones myself, and built a dozen of PCs with them. Problems everywhere. Their UEFI might be one the best looking and simplest to use but oh boy. 8 out of 10 issues, their UEFI fucks something the rest is RAM training being dogshit. Sometimes locking customers with bootloops because the mobo faisl traning. As a personnal example, i own a z570 Unify, great looking board, no RGB, has some nice features and supposedly great OC capabilities. I could achieve some nice RAM OC with a 5900x (3800 CL16/14/14/28). But while the mobo itself is pretty nice, once again, their software... Once in a while my PC won't boot, and i have to shuffle around my RAM sticks (MY OC passed 400% memtest). And 2 months ago, my BIOS literally self-destructed. I had never seen that. I was stuck on another bootloop which made me shuffle around the sticks. After a couple trys, i was able to access my BIOS, but with maybe 5fps, sluggish and then, my PC shuted down and i was then stuck on an UEFI error code on boot. Good thing this mobo has a BIOS updater USB port, because i wouldn't have been able to recover it otherwise as clearing the CMOS was no use. So yeah, never going back to buying anything MSI, i'll have to buy ASUS mobos i guess now

I think that magnet connectors are used there for specific reason (and to be fancy). Imagine having there common long pins for RGB and then removing the cover/heatsink etc. not perpedicular to motherboard, but in angle, because e.g. you dont know that there is rgb connector. That could cause bending RGB pins or damaging connector.

As you say, the problem is at this cost there are things you just expect to work or have been tested properly, and for there to be next to no compromise, they made a good start but the final execution is just a bit off. Shame about the resistive screen. Can you disable the silly growling? If they had just put as much polish into it and the software as they had done the SSD RGB cover/connectors it might have been a nice addon. Absolutely agreed about the AIO. If you have 2k knocking about for a motherboard, surely you'd have a custom loop already?

At 7:44 i see a use the the magnetic parts if it works like it looks like. When doing later install work it would make it easier to screw it down with the case upright instead of on its side. I just upgraded in my old case “couldn’t find a comparable super tower case that would fit all my hdd’s” and the biggest hassle is to do with a case design fault that means the pcie screw section had a piece of the frame above it meaning the only way to get a screw for the gpu “3090” in was by hand then a awkward tightening with a Allen’s key screwdriver. It really makes me appreciate anything that holds things inplace. Also added bonus more magnets that can catch dropped screws. Incase anyone wonders 6x 3.5’ hdd’s and 1x 2.5’ ssd And most cases these days don’t seem to accommodate 3.5’s even in super tower cases. Or even in as higher numbers as my current case can handle i think 16 drives even before accounting that i don’t have any of the optional drive bays.

You know what devices use that kind of touch screen? The very first touch screen phones (or some modern industrial machines but they still dont require much pressure or at all). Feels like a prototype.

The Nintendo ds and 3ds are the most modern devices i know of that use resistive but that is likely because of the small hard plastic touchpen that cannot just be used with capacitive ones

The TCM or Tuning Controller Module is also missing in the MSI z690 MEG Ace, even though there’s a header for it and it’s mention in the manual there as well. I can’t find anything about it online, even in MSI’s store.

Thanks. :"convection underneath the back plate." It is time that air flow under the mobo became an issue. GPU's with water blocks on both sides is already a deal. That big hole in the motherboard tray under the cpu needs air flow. That's easy to do in a big case with the mobo mounted horizontally.

I don't think MSI sent you the package as a Christmas present, but for evaluation purposes, and you delivered. MSI should thank you for pointing out the pros & cons. For that prize, they should have thrown in a CPU too!:)

Imagine if they ditched the touchscreen and added something like an ESP32 and via that they could connect an app wirelessly independent of the main CPU and do all the diagnostics and tweaking control. Also be cheaper in materials and more robust as well as allowing so much more upon a display of the users choice.

I just installed that S360 AIO and it’s very needed for the 12900K, unless you have a custom block. Also using that aio plugged in to the board might be giving you problems with the board display, did you plug it in correctly? Personally I like the S360 it’s only about $279 and can display whatever you want

Just looking at OCUK earlier, they don't have any DDR5 listed for sale so there are no prices displayed, but I had added a couple of 6400Mhz kits to my wish list and for some reason they do show the prices, £750!!!!!

This is the perfect companion to my original Level 10 case (late 2000s era, look it up) that I never found a use for but became absolutely infatuated with. Too bad I was into the whole ‘hackintosh’ thing and this is totally incompatible with that (because of lack of hardware support, and because of apple’s path towards ARM being well along in its path).

reminds me of the asus oc panel but made with msi quality. Really disappointed that it needs OS software to get temperature measurements since theoretically that can be done by a sub system on the board without OS knowing.

Gorbaz - for the price, it needs to WORK! Not just to boot, but for everything to work, and work properly, which none of this does. It just shows the mentality of MSI to send out a board with all these issues - they're a bunch of wan**rs.

From working with my new MB memory issues seem to fail at the CPU initialisation phase in a lot of cases. My problem was for some reason the new motherboard wanted to default to a unworkable memory config. I had to do a round about of having it boot with memory in single channel change the memory config from default to the xmp “think thats what its called’ profile. Turn off install the rest of my ram, load back into bios and change the profile again to config for 4 stick dual channel “significantly better timings”. Then it would run. until I figured out it was the memory causing the problem i was worried it was faulty considering i had just RMA’d beforehand because its cpu socket was faulty/damaged from the factory.

I would think that if they want to send a unit to you to test out, that they would first themselves check it for themselves to make sure its a working unit.. hence it may get banged up a bit.. during their testing to make sure its all in working order..
