Yep one big joke! I’m out here wasting my time. I’m broke, my business is going down the drain. Why did I waste my time driving for this company? I didn’t learn anything or level up in any way shape or form. What an idiot! What was I thinking? This is the biggest joke of 2023

So here is some advice that would behoove you. You need to stop every so often and stretch. I know, it sounds corny and wimpy and inefficient. I tell you this as an M.S. in Exercise Science, every time you fill the gas tank, take that dog for a long walk and thoroughly stretch your legs, hips, torso and neck. You will be glad you did. Drive safe now.

@ExpeditingAmerica2 жыл бұрын
Cheap freight is relative to someone’s operating costs. I know a guy who owns his van pays 700 in insurance a month and has no other major bills back home. He can make good money off .80-.90. Also sometimes people have a partial load and have extra room for another load. They can take that 2nd load for cheap cuz it’s a bonus for them. The best thing to do is not worry about what rate others are taking freight for. Just focus on you because that’s what matters. If people wanna take cheap freight let ‘em. They either know what they are doing or don’t and won’t last long.

That’s why having a good accountant is important. As well as getting the most life out of your van. These diesels are said to go 1,000,000 miles. If you average $1 a mile and do 150k miles or more a year ( bustin ass) that’s not a bad living. But yes fleet owners make their money off multiple vans running. Unless they are owner operator. Myself personally? Don't get sucked into the high roof scam. They are only good for the carrier/dispatcher who can't afford to lose a tall load. Or a dedicated niche driver running 60+ tall x 3 EVERYDAY. Then it's a must! And really what it's designed for. Not the driver running varying loads. Reason being; It doesn't matter what size. If your dispatcher is a rockstar, he/she is fully capable of keeping you loaded. I ran a VW GTI everything in between to a late model high roof one ton ProMaster. It's a no brainer. In my VW, dispatch simply looks for tiny parts all day. And they're out there,...all day long! Pays the same, 3lbs - VW or 3000 lbs ProMaster. $1200 the easy way or the hard way? Your choice. Save fuel, insurance, payments, time. It's all in dispatching. Or, you can listen to those "gotta have this, gotta have that "... videos and be "cool." Running around with all the empty high roofs. Looks good though!!

Scam? Lol I love the high roof not only for cargo but for comfortability too. I’m 6’ tall and I ain’t tryin to size down… what for? I love that I don’t have to turn things down. You make it seem like it’s a bad thing to have more room. Lol I live in this thing. Most my loads are 2 pallets or less and not that tall you’re right but at least 20% of the time when I was in sticky situation and needed a load it came through for me. But hey you have your opinion and I respect it. My dispatcher is amazing and I’m doing just fine my friend. :) God bless!

@@ExpeditingAmerica that’s great ! Here’s the deal I took an early retirement from my job of 24 years and I receive a pension . I’ve been contemplating getting into this business for some time now . I thought box truck but the cost including start up cost and all the regulations made that not appealing . Than I saw sprinter vans . My question is I should I start off expediting or should I just jump right in on my own as you are now and get on load boards and get rolling . I will rent a sprinter van first just to see if I like this . What would you recommend?

Nice traveling with you. Well done. Wish I had a furry companion. I think my trips would be more enjoyable. My personal preference in expediting is cash paid for trucks. There's nothing better. Sure, there's A LOT to be said for a high end rig specifically designed for the industry. But if it isn't paid for, it changes the entire dynamic of the profession. There's nothing better in life than pocketing 100% of the rate. Then when it breaks, you've got it. No sweat. Fix it, and make it up the next week. Older paid off rigs get a bad rap for being costly and breaking down too much, Lol. My $2000, 2005 3/4 ton Express rolled almost flawlessly, nonstop, while I witnessed late models breaking all the friggin time! HUGE repair bills. A very late model Mercedes Sprinter with a $4000 repair! You work way too hard, at the 8th (1-100) most dangerous job in the world. (Cops are 20-ish in danger) Keep ALL your money. Don't become a slave to this industry. The money you're giving up is the "hazard pay" portion of the rate! And whomever ISN'T paying for their fuel portion in this industry, is getting over on us. Big time. Godspeed!

Since this is an interstae commercial load. Do you or the van owner file IFTA fuel tax? And how about the van license plate! Is it have to be apportioned plate?
@ExpeditingAmerica Жыл бұрын
Check out the fmcsa website. I’m under 10k lbs in gross weight. We fly under the radar
@edungtran Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the replied. Yes, I understand about the under 10k# then the driver no needs to following the fmcsa safety regulations. So I guess probably the owner of the van file and paid for the fuel tax for each States that your van rolling through because the van carry the commercial pay load.
@edungtran Жыл бұрын
I may be wrong! will do more research about the van Apportioned license plate and IFTA license sticker for fuel tax filling.
@edungtran Жыл бұрын
Alright, just search and this is IFTA requirements: any vehicles >26k# regardless of number of axle. Any vehicles 3 axles or more regardless of gross weight.
