Can i use a rental van on a gig app. Just to get some experience first before i go out and spend 50k on a van. I live in Miami and I'm looking into joining the cargo van business. Do you feel getting loads up North had been easier than Florida?
@adamdaymon Жыл бұрын
Yes getting loads up North was easier than in Florida when it comes to OTR but Florida seems to have more local/in state courier companies than the north does. Miami also has a ton of high end businesses you can tap into like try to ship high end car parts, boat parts, flooring for remodels etc.

Great information thank you. How did you figure out your rates for the local courier deliveries? From documents to large loads? I’ve got 2014 Chevy express 2500.I have my LLC, EIN and business cards,been doing gig apps.
@adamdaymon Жыл бұрын
Hey! When it comes to local rates whether it is just a small box or the entire van I have a minimum of $2 a mile so that way im at least getting a dollar a miles each way. You can increase prices if it is heavier but even if its just a small box you are still putting the wear and tear on your van so you have to charge and account for that. One of my customers pays about 1.75 per mile (total miles to the drop and home) and another pays $2-$2.50 round trip. I always like to start higher and negotiate down and sometimes they even just like the first price you send.
@alexmolina3572 Жыл бұрын
@@adamdaymon Great thank you ! So the rate starts from the pick or your home location? I was thinking of making a chart or list for quick reference and quotes. I’ve got potential customers for legal documents to large box items. Having hard time figuring it out.

That's a little bit steep. The most you would need is $250K in cargo insurance and it should not coast you more than $1800 per year. I'd check with Farmer's Insurance and see if you can get a better rate.
