@@SeeWDW unfortunately the only way of them fixing the yeti is to take the one out and put in a smaller one. The reason the one I’m there now is turned off and doesn’t move is because his large size and weight plus the shaking and weight of the coaster was causing the foundation around the yeti which is also attached to apart of one of the mainframes of the coaster was starting to break. So they would have to put a new yeti in. It was an idea to take this one out and put him at the very end on the ground right before you get off so people could take photos with this moving yeti but the idea was shot down as a potential safety hazard that someone would fuck with the animatronic resulting in injury

I wish they could at least rig it so that the yeti's arm moves up and down a bit, you know? Like, I understand that the forces involved with the entire 20-foot-tall yeti's full body lunging down several feet damage the foundation it is on (apparently this all happened because of an error in the software they used to design and engineer the ride) because of how dang big and heavy the yeti is, but I imagine that just having the figure move its arm even just a little bit wouldn't put much stress on the foundation at all since it isn't the full weight of the figure moving rapidly with a vertical and horizontal component of several feet each. Now that Joe Rhode has left the company, there is no way they will ever entirely fix the yeti problem, but at least do something to give us _some_ movement out of the thing. It truly is a sight to see, and I just wish they'd stop the strobe lights and have his arm move up and down a couple of feet. The way it is now with all the strobes you can't even tell what you're looking at, so if they're not gonna ever fix it, they should find some way to improve it a bit. Heck, I'd rather they just shine a light on the yeti even if he isn't moving at all over the strobes they do now. It would be cool to actually be able to see the thing in any capacity.
@SeeWDW Жыл бұрын
That makes a lot of sense. Maybe make the mouth open and just the hand move. That would make a huge difference.
@STSGuitar16 Жыл бұрын
@@SeeWDW Exactly. A B+ Mode, if you will. And if for some reason the animatronic itself has no ability to be reprogrammed into just moving it’s arm and/or mouth (though, I see no reason why that would be the case; there are videos of the yeti being tested and they demonstrate a few of the movements it is capable of, including just moving its hand and head by itself without the rest of the figure moving), replacing the current arm with a lightweight new puppet arm could be easy and cheap, and they could have complete control over it. This seems like such an obvious partial “fix” for the yeti that it makes me wonder if there aren’t other issues preventing them from addressing the yeti in any way. If I had to guess I’d say that the company and its lawyers probably have some legality issue that prevents them from having the animatronic move in any capacity at all because of its damaged foundation. Damaged yeti structure = absolutely no movement of any kind whatsoever. Something like that could easily be part of the issue that’s holding this idea back. If that is the case and they aren’t legally allowed to have the figure move at all, at least just shine some normal lights on the figure. I’m tired of only catching 0.02 seconds of the massive figure. Like, I have ridden EE about a million times over the years, and I still feel like I have never been able to get anything close to a good look at the yeti on the ride. The size of the thing itself is so imposing and impressive that it needs to be properly lit. Like, we know it doesn’t move. The strobes don’t really make it look like it’s moving either and just take away more than they add. I was actually lucky enough to visit the parks right when EE opened and the yeti was fully operational, and even though I was only like 10 years old, I STILL remember seeing that thing swoop down at the train. The image is still clear in my mind when I think about it, so I guess that’s a pretty solid endorsement that the A Mode yeti was truly incredible to see. We won’t ever get A Mode back, but at least give us a B+ Mode. It’s the least they could do. Doing nothing because you only see the figure for a second or two just makes the company seem careless and lazy, and that is precisely the opposite of how old-school imagineers thought and operated in the parks. It used to be that no detail is too small to ignore, but clearly that philosophy is no longer how they do things. Tis a shame. Here’s hoping someone will eventually improve the yeti’s current situation.

@b8conbear3302 жыл бұрын
Part of the reason he’s broken isn’t because of a animatronic breakdown, it’s due to where he’s located. He’s located on a structure separated from the actual mountain an ride. He used to work but the structure was starting to suffer and wither. So they poured concrete on his platform to fix it and made the yeti move in slow motion. But it wasn’t working still so they turned off the yeti and used strobe lights instead. The yeti works still, it’s just off. Also they would have to take a chunk out of the mountain itself to fix it. So…
