I wonder if Amazon Fallout was major influence on that OR TSR kinda go with that tone. Also part of me wonder if Obsidian and In-Exile should have done Gamma World and Metamorphosis Alpha (probably latter since we didn't have enough "tribal society on derelict colony ship ala Space: 1999 Darians or Star Lost, and probably Red Dwarf if there is option for slobbish Vending Machine technician who came out of Cryo").

Krull keeps popping up, but it started as a D&D movie script. Look at the influences for early D&D, having weird science and alien technology shouldnt be a shock.

You don’t need a narrative structure included in this adventure. The DM should be the one dangling the carrot in front of the party, not what the writers (who no nothing about my group) decide to use. I can only hope it is done with a light touch that does not make the adventure feel like previous linear adventures with a so strong a narrative that it leaves you feeling like you are on a railroad journey to the destination the plot is taking you. (Dragonlance I’m looking at you!) For my group of players, I’m sure that just the prospect of getting their hands on alien tech will have them searching through every hold in every room! Still, I’m interested to see what you have come up with for me to use or ignore as I wish. I have the original, and the Goodman Games remake to compare it with. No pressure 😇

Honestly after the fumble to deliver in the long expected Vecna adventure, which barely features Vecna, it will take a reaally good successful adventure to make me buy / be excited for a new release. Vecna is probably THE GREATEST name of a D&D villain, if they couldn't do HIM right, I can't believe anything else would be different

Tbf, there are a lot of good things in the vecna book, just not Vecna unfortunately. Hopefully, this is as good as Candkekeep(one of my favorites), but we'll see it.

@@orbislame Personally, I imagine the Ritual of Remaking as a gradual corrupting process rather than a massive explosion. Throughout the adventure, make it clear that the ritual is warping the multiverse is small but harmful ways. This can be done thematically (by simply describing locations and creatures as being affected by some fell, necromantic magic) as well as mechanically (by adding unique environmental hazards or altering the abilities of otherwise standard monsters). Another idea is to use Vecna's Link to show the players how evil Vecna is. I was personally thinking of using the Survivor rules from Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft whenever the characters Long Rest to represent dreams in which they are at pivotal events in Vecna's history as well as on worlds that are slowly being warped by the Ritual of Remaking. For example, give players the mage survivor stat so they can witness young Vecna murder his former wizard masters; any survivor stat blocks will work for reliving Vecna's darkest moments from "Vecna Lives!", "Vecna Reborn", or "Die Vecna, Die!"; survivors may also be those trying to escape locations being undone by the Ritual of Remaking or trying to survive orchestrated assaults launched by the cult of Vecna.
