You are definitely on the right track. Stripping that truck down to the frame was a great idea. Since there had been previous work done, I would rather start with everything done the right way instead of patching more parts, cables, lines, or the wiring harness. Was an electronics tech during college years and customized boats, cars, trucks, and 18 wheelers. Installed and repaired cruise controls, high-end music systems, and custom wiring for anything 12 or 110 volts. Sure hated trying to fix somebody else's crappy work. If I were younger, I'd load up my tools and head your way to cook and help out with no cost to you. My cap and headlamp flashlight came in the mail today. Will be ordering t-shirts and caps soon for Christmas gifts. I truly appreciate watching every video, and thanks for sharing your journey with us. Keep living your dream!!!

James, I have thoroughly enjoyed purchasing Christmas, anniversary, and birthday gifts from your merch store. The quality of the wearables, as well as the camping gear, will work well with those who camp, work on their vehicles, farming events, and young adults who enjoy exploring the woods. Keep up the great job, team. As you add more items, we will return to purchase more, sir.

James crazy ideas are what great videos are made of. I think you're ideas are awesome and I would definitely love to see the craziness that ensues. It's also great to see your "crew" multiply. I think the frankentruck is great idea for the future and definitely has potential to bring in more views and attention. a great addition to a project like that might be some sort of collaboration with another youtuber, one more known for vehicle modding. The cross promotion could really benefit you, and allow for more hands to help possibly. Grind hard plumbing might be a good contender. I would also love to see more of that shop you visited while picking up the truck with all the 7.3 projects they had.

I think there's a lot of media value in putting an old cab on the 550 frame. It seems like older trucks, especially 70's to 80's stuff, is having a bit of a moment right now. Resto mods too. I would say the old cab + Cummins + adventure rig recipe feels like something that could head in the direction of going viral. Something you have possibly already considered is collaborating with other KZbin creators for extra exposure. Matt's Off-road or Diesel Brothers maybe? I could see both of those channels being onboard with your support of wilderness preservation in addition to building cool stuff. That being said, as a 2000 7.3 F350 owner, I have a special place in my heart for that body style and would love to see the restored finished project. I'm watching either way. Keep grinding.

If you are looking to build a marketing show piece (pavement princess) I would go with Cummins/dent side swap, but if you plan on using this build like you have the original one… I would stay the course with the original plan. The Cummins & body swap would definitely get more attention, but by the time you put that much (more) work into it you might be worried to use it for what you made it for. (I know I would).
@korbelkiller71062 ай бұрын
If you don't have it back together yet, you might as well take the framing and get it powder coated or rhino lined

I would just finish this up with the ford body and motor. Mabey do the next truck with a Cummins and a old body where you can save the money buying just a frame with axles.

I think putting a dent side cab on would be awesome but you have to think about the amount of rust that might be on that cab and if you find one in good shape it will not be cheap. Also a 5.9 Cummins would be awesome and it would truly be amazing and it would attack a lot of people to your channel

I think your future is bright, I vote for old cabs are wonderful, but it's going to take a bunch of work to fit an old cab on a new ish frame. Also, cab frame Cummins fitment, and will this frame take the torque of a diesel on an off-road adventure. I hope you have researched all of the above, I would hate to see you go through a lot of work and find out, oops it don't fit. Best of luck and I hope you all have a wonderful day.

I Will definetly watch if you put a cummins in it and a bumpside cab on it
@openboxer2326Ай бұрын
Id say the cummins build would definitely grow your channel. However, there is still plenty of support for the 7.3 and you already have another project lined up after the ambulance for your custom fiberglass camper. I’d say its your call whether you want your personal vehicle to have the 7.3 or 5.9 while taking into account that your overall build cost will be lower if you do the cummins second since, as you stated, you’d only need the ford chasis
@openboxer2326Ай бұрын
I also believe the custom manufacturing and skill requirement for the 5.9 swap is more in line with custom camper. In addition, a custom vehicle could be costly and stress inducing to repair, so it may not be ideal for a giveaway
@deeper4cheaper1282 ай бұрын
Sucks that the engine has leaks, I know it’s very rare for the 7.3L to have head gasket issues so that is kind of crazy. I am in the middle of doing something similar, I have an F450 crew cab and single cab down to bare frames as I type this. I just had the crew frame media blasted last week, sprayed the frame and the 48,000 mile engine with 2 gallons of epoxy primer. Fun stuff, but time consuming!

Wanted to support the channel and just bought a hoodie. You are really skilled for your age. I’ve been watching all of your videos for the last two days. Very impressed! At least get a price on having your frame hot dipped. Are you deleting all the EGR stuff on your builds?
