There's also a bow in Act 1 (in the temple) that let's you keep shooting with Interrupt, as long as you kill with it. Quite fun, when some low hp enemies rush you.

I think the most interesting one is the hunter subclass, make me feel like I am the elf in lord of the ring. Not the strongest, but really bring ton of fun while playing.
@ZeriocTheTank2 жыл бұрын
Reminds me of the old school WoW survival hunter as well. I rather gimp myself if I'm promised to have more fun. There's just something about someone being versatile with both melee and ranged combat that's so appealing.
@truskawka222 жыл бұрын
@@ZeriocTheTank Hej actually hunter class mixed with sniper is super powerhouse. Quick shot misses rarely, and after u get barrage you are a kind of active marksman and dont need to wait for enemies to come to you or attack allies. Sniper grants bonuses to acc and damage after buffing.
@BamMatt192 жыл бұрын
The Hunter is actually really strong. It's probably the stronger of the two other subclasses early on because Quick Shot + Versatility. Versatile when used correctly is just insane. I found that the Hunter Class plays really well being just a few paces behind your Princeps, popping quick shots, and staying close enough to enemies where you can proc your versatile buffs, switching in and out with ranged/melee. Hunters also destroy untrained enemies pretty easy. You get a kill, you reset your action, you switch to your other weapon with 50% damage buff + your buff from support character = 75% more damage = another dead untrained enemy, reset action, rinse and repeat. Pretty fuckin' nuts.
@interestingvideos83482 жыл бұрын
Great guide! You're really underselling triarius-destroyer though. Reckless + resetting deathblow + 2/3 range pike means you can pump out multiple 30+ damage hits per turn by the midgame and do so *safely*. Combined with the ability to get at least 3 armor just from helmet and body armor and the pike ability that does more damage if you stand next to someone with a shield, triarius-destroyer can quickly become point, click, dead.
@cornuthaum2 жыл бұрын
This, so much - it gets even better with the unique Pike from Act 1 that gives you auto-Ready (reactionary attack up to your reach) when you stand next to someone with a shield..... and since Veteran Princeps is your best friendd in enabling Deathblow (knockdown, stun attacks of opportunity, warcry) you want to do that anyways. Made that my main in my run and it worked incredibly well.
@Jasta852 жыл бұрын
Agreed that Triarius is the most effective class to pick for your main, not only do they have amazing abilities, all 3 of their trees are very useful. You can only max 2 trees by end game, so having 2 of this class on your team to cover all 3 trees is fantastic. Note that group buffs apply to friendly NPC soldiers who do show up in some key story battles. With your story companions you end up with 2 princeps, 2 triarius, 1 velens and 1 archer on my team and it works fantastic.
@El_Cattivo19882 жыл бұрын
My main has the veles class, in my opinion it is unmatched. Together with the Spear of Achillies he sometimes kills 10+ enemies in one round.
@El_Cattivo19882 жыл бұрын
@@mrfrenglitch2172 This is on Hard and works with the current skill on Insane as well. I put it up because it has become way too easy on hard. I think there are still big nerfs coming. I had no use for 3 principes, but later you get 2 principes with the main, that would be 3. I think it's nonsense. 2 Veles, on the other hand, can be used to clean up. I'm actually glad that in the 3rd act side hits happen to me more often and so the others can get to them again. But I think even on Insane the main can be any class even on Insane because the game becomes much easier from the 2nd act with good equipment. The tier 3 Pilums Alone do 11 Damage + Reduce Amor. 3 and switching off shields can be used 3 times per battle GG.

Triarius destroyer is by far the strongest dps class lategame, actually, it's all about hugging your buddy Princeps. Shielded Thrust as a main attack produces some insane damage, War Cry+Death Blow(Finisher) combo is the most reliable "kill half a dozen enemies or more in 1 turn" move in game, and then there is an unique pike that sends Triarius into "overwatch" mode if you end your turn adjacent to a shield bearer - which is a great synergy with Shielded Thrust. And you aren't dying to archers as much as veles because of high armor.
@Valks-222 жыл бұрын
For Princeps in Defender the crossed skull passive allows them to shake off a negative effect at the start of each turn, with the progress through the game the AoE spam gets quite heavy and automatically removing poisoned, burning, and bleeding etc. statuses makes them more tankier and you don't have to spend items or much support from the medic class. For Sagittarius the quick-show is a good investment as an immediately available skill. With leveling up, better bows and accuracy boosts the 30% is very low. And in closer ranges or ambushes it allows you to effective single-turn remove an enemy with an archer or cause enough damage to two to have you veles reap(er) through them more easily.

Good information, as always. Debated between a Vanguard and a Flagbearer for my main based on the trees. I chose Vanguard for the RP. But I'll definitely look at Flagbearer on the 2nd run.

Just a simple correction: Feint costs a movement point (not an action), it's a great skill to use for flanking. Great video, thank you!
@nbBROFIST2 жыл бұрын
one of the abilities from the defender subclass is really powerful, if you are surrounded by your allies, you decrease the overall damage taken by alot, personally i find it really useful when you get ambushed. but remeber to have 2 healers with cure and prefferably bring some throwable status-effect removers in case of fire bomb or poison bomb if you decide to try it.

It might be interesting to play a character that doesn't summon elementals/undead or have eyes that glow in the dark. (don't get me wrong, when Mythic power plays, I get the urge rain fire anything that moves on the map. - mundane might be interesting.) Here's to septic wounds and Gregor Cleganes instead of mountains with leathery wings.

I like how they did that in the Expeditions series. No magic, and whatever "supernatural" you see is up to your own interpretation. Are you seeing the Gods, or is that strange smell coming from those spores doing something to your brain? The buffs, curses and restoring hitpoints is still not how it would happen in real life though. But games will still be games.

The one class I'm still not sure how to use is sniper. I had my archers get the double dmg skill from that tree and that's it. I'm playing on hard right now and my strat is: have 2 archers with Marksman's melee range 100% crit and Hunter's double shots; have 2 shield bearers with Brace skill. Have the shield bearer tank the attack of opportunity when needed, then let the archers move in and double shot, that's 2x weapon dmg and 2x crit damage. Pilum if enemies have shield/armor. Kill basically anything with minimal feat investment. Late game an assassin with flank is more reliable dmg dealer tho.

honestly the armor shred mechanic is bad imo, any mechanic that essentially forces you to pick one specific class to counter it is bad design (yes i know you can have at least one companion with armor shred but it doesn't change the fact that you're limiting yourslef by not having two armor shred characters which results in players being basically forced to pick the armor shred class by default). Maybe i'm wrong since i haven't played a ton of the game yet but it feels like bad design
@MortismalGaming2 жыл бұрын
I would say there's only two fights where it is explicitly required. Otherwise it's more of a perk than anything

@@MortismalGaming oh ok good, i was worried it would be a game breaking thing where it would ruin an entire playthrough if you don't pick the right class
@TheoreticalString Жыл бұрын
@@revanruler6404 Nah, and there's tons of ways to bypass it too. Stacking conditions on people does a bunch of condition damage. Mortismal is right that it is required in like two fights, but they're super late game where everyone has 1.75 classes done anyway, and you have basically all your team there. And one of them has to be the armor shred class anyway. If you flat out didn't get any, you could bring a bunch of Pila items too, they shred armor (they're tactical items, which are basically your x-com generic slot). You can make them in camp. You get three uses and they'll shred a fair amount of armor, so if you truly got none it'd be perfectly viable to Pila spam down enemies (and sometimes you end up doing that anyway, Pilas are really good since they insta-break shields).
