Ohh man. My grandmother lived across the street from Knott's and we moved there in 1970. Mrs Knott fell in love with my sister and often rocked her in the chair out in front of one of the stores in Ghost Town. We went to Knott's nearly every day. She loved feeding the ducks at the pond at the merry go round. Her favorite was a rooster and a duck who were best friends. We rode the Log Ride all the time, what memories this brought back! To this day , i will only eat boysenberry Jam that i learned to love at Knott's. Best berry ever! I loved jungle Island and played there often. I'm so glad the Log Ride still exists. My uncle used to play the bank robber on the stage coach. It felt like it was our backyard. My sister's friends had a family band who sang at the John Wayne theater. Man oh man i wish i could go back just for one day.

Thank you for this. This ride was a huge part of my childhood memories. I've been on it probably hundreds, if not close to a thousand times growing up. There was only ever one time I couldn't ride it due to a breakdown, otherwise I'd be on it as many times as my parents or friends would tolerate. I always knew it was special, but I didn't realize as a kid that it was this special. This helped revive a lot of old memories about the park as a whole. Between the local options, Disney and Knott's, I was always a Knott's Berry Farm kid.

In 1994 to 1995 I worked at Knotts Berry Farm and was lucky to meet Steve and Russell Knott. I left to work at Castle Amusement Park in 1996 and would see Bud, his wife and dog every weekend in the park. Bud was a great guy to work for. Always checking in on his favorite rides. The antique car ride, which was at Knotts, his miniature train ride which ran around the lagoon at Knotts and his other larger train which resembled the locomotives of the Calico mine trains. All these rides were great childhood memories as I rode them when they were at Knotts and Castle Park. Then as I got older operating the rides that Mr. Hurlbut had the most pride in. It was an awesome experience. Not only that but Mr. Hurlbut lived across the street from my grandparents in Buena Park. Very kind gentlemen.

When I heard the voice of the truant "kid" I knew it was the great Tony Baxter. I had the honor of speaking with him many times along with both Dana & Ed Morgan. This by far is the definitive in ALL log flumes. I'm from Houston, TX. We had the Bambo Shoot, then there is the 1st @ Six Flags Over Texas* I can't remember If the 1964 Worlds Fair opened before or after. I LOVVVVEEE!!! Knott's ever since I was a little boy. I was so happy for the re-furb of it & Calico Mine Train. This is what makes these parks so "stand OUT!" research & unrelenting attention to detail. Passion, is a another word that is the enduring hallmark of why these attractions stand the TEST of time. Thank YOU Expedition!!!!" for brightening my day!!!

THE best log flume ride ever built. Not just in theming, but the physical ride itself. So many roll along the bottom or constantly bang back and forth. They truly mastered the right amount of water and flow in all the right places. I rode it 18 times in one day once. I can never get enough! I live on the east coast now and I miss it! I am excited to watch this video. I know it’s going to bring back so many great memories. When I was growing up, our family lived 15 months from Knott’s. We would go to 5-6 times a year. Once I got my drivers license, my brother and I went almost every weekend - during the school year. In summer, 3-5 times a week. Every time we would ride the Log Ride - we would “argue” (not seriously) about who got to sit in front first. We never rode it just once. The front rider got the most water splash. I’m now 56 years old and live in Idaho. Sadly, my amusement park ride buddy (and best friend) passed away too soon in 2001. I know he would love to be sitting here with me and saying “Remember that time at Knott’s when we …..”

I "grew up" here . My Son went to Walter Knott School right on the grounds ! Hearing the Locomotive and the screaming visitors were certainly a distraction ! I worked there during the now defunct Gypsy Camp and was the first Haunter in the mill during the First Knotts Halloween Haunt ( pre Knotts Scary Farm ) .. I was stationed at the top of the first ramp , just inside the sawmill , above , on a catwalk . I had been armed with hundreds of " Kreepy Krawlers " and rolls of kite string to dangle the creepies in riders faces or tap the last rider in the back . Furthermore , a tethered , wired box with 6 buttons that , when pressed , gave off terrible screams , Cackling and Howling .. WHAT A BLAST , I couldn't get to work fast enough ! Later each evening , the riders would realize I was up there and returned my favors with squirts from water pistols ... I'm in my sixtys now but would return in a heartbeat if given that chance .

I haven't thought about Knott's and my favorite, the log ride, for many years. Seeing this video brought back so many memories for me. I can just about hear the thumping sounds the logs made as you floated through the attraction. Knott's also had a killer fried chicken restaurant that forever cemented that dish as another favorite of mine. We spent many happy hours there. Somewhere, I have some of the 1970s attraction tickets still. Some of the better memories I had growing up in Southern California from the 60s to the 80s were made there.

4 minute ride? Man, it never seemed that short. I guess that's part of its brilliance, you lose track of time on the ride and just enjoy the trip. As an Orange County native, I grew up going to both Knott's and Disneyland at least once a year. So in my memory and heart they share kind of an equal standing. But it's much easier to indulge the Disney side with all the footage and coverage it gets inn comparison. It's really great to see such a detailed look for OC's other theme park. And on top of that, a Castle Park shoutout? I got to go on that log ride shortly after they opened it. Not bad, but it was no Timber Mountain. Still, I had a lot of fun at Castle Park too. A little bit of trivia, when Knott's removed Tijuana Taxi from Fiesta Village, the cars made their way to Castle Park, where they still reside. Anyway, great video.

Well done! I grew up 2 miles from KBF and rode this in 1970, within the first year of operation. I still have an old Polaroid of the visit. Living in Cypress, then later Stanton, all next to Buena Park and Anaheim. So as you enter working age it was either KBF, Disneyland, or McDonalds. I started at McDs for a year then DL for 8.5 years. I miss the old KBF. The Haunted Shack, the original location of pan for gold, the Model T cars out on the far side of the parking lot, the original Scary Farm in the early 70s were fantastic, when the Roaring 20s area was first built, the Corkscrew, the Parachute Drop, Knotts Berry Tales. *sigh* All the farmland is gone now. I remember awaking to the smell of strawberrys and fertilizer as a kid. It’s all concrete and strip malls now.

the only theme park in my province, which closed a couple of years ago, had a flume ride that i loved so much as a kid. it was called Upper Clements Park and it was definitely not up to the standards of theme park enthusiasts, but it was all we had, and it was magical to me. the other big ticket ride was a wooden rollercoaster that caused some delightful neck pain, lol. i remember school trips and visits with my family where we would just go back and forth between those two rides. someday, i hope to see many more rides. thank you for your videos, always entertaining and informative!

One of my favorite memories of this ride is the smell of funnel cake 😁. The Funnel Cake Shop was right by the exit, and you could smell it on all the outdoor sections.

Timber Mountain Log ride actually has a sister ride: Paul Bunyan’s Log Chute at Knotts camp snoopy, now known as Nickelodeon Universe at Mall Of America.

@@AnnCooper33 the log chute hasn’t changed in the retheme besides some new lights and a new bear animatronic, its still just as good as ever.

Awesome video!!! Absolutely loved it! I’ve been going to Haunt for so long, I remember MANY past themes including Camp Gonnagetcha, Red Moon Massacre, Pyromaniax and Sleepy Hollow Mountain! I even got to walk the flume after it’s refurbishment during a Theme Park Review event!

So-Cal Seany what do you mean by walk the flume?

Freddie Jackson They took us into the mountain with all the water drained in the flume, went up some stairs and went into the flume itself. Walked a good portion of the ride. Did the same thing with Calico Mine Ride and Voyage to the Iron Reef at different events

We grew up there, sitting on Mrs Knott's lap in Ghost Town. Sitting in her rocking chair nearly every single afternoon. It's the best memories ever. My grandmother fed the ducks on the pond by the merry go round and wrote a true story about two ducks that got published in the paper. She lived across the street in Buena Park. I still won't eat any preserves but boysenberry.

This was a fantastic Vlog. I have never heard of Buds river attraction. Interesting info on John Wayne. It is still one of the best attractions around.
