Appropriate turbo size is a real thing, you can put an utterly enormous turbo on an engine to make huge peak power numbers but if the engine is too small to drive the turbo you're going to end up with a laggy mess unless it's on track/drag racing etc.
@turbo_brian8 ай бұрын
Uhhh, whut? The whole discussion about changing direction is some serious highdeas there. The evo doesn't change directions for the power it sends to the front wheels, it changes power direction twice for the rear wheels. A subaru awd has a dirction change once for both the front and rear wheels. It's the same number of direction changes. If he's implying the subaru doesn't have layshafts in it's transmission he's terribly mistaken... the architecture of both vehicles is fine. Neither is fundamentally flawed or causes any unreliability. In both cases their unreliability comes from the detailed design of the components themselves. Mostly the gears, synchros, and stiffness of the housings.
@5372john8 ай бұрын
Glad someone said it. I was thinking that was nonsense as well
@moogle687 ай бұрын
I think he was just talking about general terms when saying that the direction changes are the points of failure. Based on what you just said, he's not wrong, just less specific with what causes the failures. I think he's basically just explaining the downsides of the horizontal engine layouts vs longitudinal.
@GSRDUDE808 ай бұрын
Mg, the valve covers on the EVO are Magnesium, it’s light but so is Aluminum, and though when magnesium burns it does so with a white hot flame and gives off harmful MgO smoke. Magnesium takes a very hot open flame to begin to burn and nothing under the hood will get that hot to ignite or affect the Mg!!

I had an Evo 8 for 11 years, which was immaculate when sold, I knew another person who had one 6 months newer and the thing was an absolute mess. They're great cars, but you cannot skip the huge amount maintenance required, which unfortunately a lot of people that buy these cars do. I'd never buy another now, as I know people don't spend the money on maintenance

I look forward to seeing this build so I can do the same with an Evo I bought in the same game. I know it isn't the same as driving them for real, but bone stock in the game I liked the way the Evo Drove much better then the Subaru. Once I got The Subaru built up as Richard had, It was a much better vehicle, Though to be fair I did feel like it was overpowered.
