You need to put all your old welding videos back on

Your videos are what sparked my interest in welding. 👍

When it comes to cast I like to grind a V channel before squirting the hot snot into the valley. Usually move around a stitch here, peen, let cool etc. I learned not all cast is created equal. I've had better luck on anvils and wood stoves pre 1930s vs modern cast cookware. But sometimes I get lucky and other times it snaps off. Doesn't hurt to try. 🤘

I impressed a guy by welding a new piece of steel to cast iron on a piece that goes to a corn sheller, the other half the cast piece was missing so I grabbed some bar stock and my mig welder and made it stick, I couldn’t believe that it actually held, still holding up to this day 😂

how about some stainless or nickel cast rod with a lot of pre heat and post heat ?
@geneautry2091Ай бұрын
You should always, if possible, use nickel rods or atleast 7018, applying only maybe 1/2"-1" long beads before pausing to peen & clean. Also adequate pre-heat and post heat for optimum cooling.

It's not about the pre-heating phase or with or without a post heating phase. The cracks are there because of your too much high amperage man. 1/8 rods for cast like those ones i use are made for 90 amps max and for my opinion, the blueshield cast rods are absolutely goods at 94 amps with positive on rod. I use to weld some 2400 mm diameter cast steel rings for concrete moulding rings about 1 1/4 inches thickness. I tried with 7018 and have some super greats results but with 3/32 rod. My results are super. I save a 20k to my company welding the 2400 mm ring with good looking welds and a fully repared ring. thanks for your video

The magic numbers 450° preheat and I've had no problem welding with 60 11 60 10 60 13 18 no problems no cracking whatsoever

I think a thinner bevel is better as there's less material pulling the seam apart.

I made weights from brake discs and drums. No preheat, no clean up, no keeping the metal from getting too hot. Slam then around and they haven't broke yet. When something fails I'm going to be panicking into mania and I'll do it how its supposed to be done
