@blackfuel12 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. I saw the 'Experience Hendrix' tour a few years ago, and the token Metal Dude that year was Zakk Wylde. He played 'Little Wing' and absolutely BUTCHERED the out solo. It was awful to behold. Not that Zakk isn't an excellent player, but he didn't play to the song at all. It was this unending, projectile vomit machine gunning flurry of notes all waaaay in the upper frets. He sounded like he was being attacked by bees. Dave, on the other hand, went totally class on this one and showed us some versatility. Salud!
@MetalizedButt2 жыл бұрын
@@blackfuel1 lmao zakk wylde NEVER butchers a solo. learn to accept covers, different musical adaptations, and artists’ own interpretations. it doesn’t have to sound note for note like the original to be amazing. that’s such a lame cliched way of thinking.
@blackfuel12 жыл бұрын
@@MetalizedButt I don't think a cover song's solo necessarily has to be note for note. I hope you saw where I said that Zakk's an excellent player. At one point I was a touring guitarist, and I've actually met him, and Dimebag on several occasions, both when they weren't yet famous and after. They were both really humble and sweet cats. After forty years of playing, I (and they would, as well) offer you this- Improvising is a double edged sword; no player, no matter how excellent, is infallible. I can attest to this both with happiness and frustration, personally depending on the night and the kind of music I am attempting to play. You might think that Zakk is above reproach, but I guarantee you he doesn't think that about himself. None of the greats do. I've seen him play great solos. That one solo, on that one night, in my opinion was shitty. End of story. If you want to go and listen to some tracks on my channel, to see if I even have a right to my opinion, please feel free. Listening critically to our heroes helps us to become better musicians ourselves. It doesn't make you disloyal. Talk about a lame cliche- hero worship. Anyway, despite this rant from a complete stranger, happy jamming, sir. Peace.
@MetalizedButt2 жыл бұрын
@@blackfuel1 Nah man, I don’t worship any “heroes”, I’m just not an elitist who claims a guitarist the caliber of Zakk “butchers” a guitar solo. You may not have liked his rendition or his feel, but I guarantee you nothing he plays is shitty nor does he butcher anything. Fact is, I’ve never seen Zakk play anything badly. It’s not about worshiping a star and thinking they’re infallible, I just think you and I have very different ideas of what butchering a solo and sucking is. To reinforce my point, Kirk Hammet and Rob Trujillo covering When Doves Cry - now THAT’S butchering.
