I’m so glad we could help get that for you! 👍 Atascosa is definitely one of the best spots for them

Wow, that seems like a really fun time! Glad I could experience a glimpse of it through your video. And that Bare-throated Tiger Heron would have been so awesome to see in person!

We are planning to go in November this year. We will be driving from WV to TX w a brief stop in Louisiana. I am so excited. We have a stop planned to attempt to see a Whooping Crane before heading to the final stop in Rio Grande Valley. The trip may get expanded to more like 2.5 weeks 😂

This looked SO FUN! What a fascinating event to attend, and exhausting too I bet. Exhausting the best way of course - I have family in Texas. Maybe, just maybe, I can convince them to make an effort to come do this together...! It'd be incredible.

That was an awesome bird festival. One time I thought I saw a bare-throated tiger-heron here in south Alabama close to the Florida panhandle. It may have gotten blown off course and ended up here accidentally. If that's what it was, then it would be seen for the fourth time in the U.S.

I watched this video a second time to see what a bird festival/ conference was like, because I am going to the Missouri Bluebird Society conference this July! The Missouri young Birders Club emailed me one day and told me they were sponsoring me to go to the conference and they want me to help run the Missouri River Bird Observatory/ Missouri young birders club booth at the conference! I am looking forward to meeting new people, visiting booths at the conference, going on bird walks ,and more!

What does it cost to go to a birding festival? Currently working with a very tight budget. I was looking at the information on the Tampa festival, less than 2 hours away. Besides your travel, you’re looking at a few motel nights, registration and then you can see the exhibit hall, not sure if all speakers were included. Your organizer mentioned volunteering, maybe that would reduce the costs, but still be able to have some fun. I have already seen many of the area birds on personal or Audubon field trips. Any comments or suggestions?
@BadgerlandBirding8 ай бұрын
You know it really depends on the festival, with some of them I do believe you get free admission for volunteering. I would just look at the website of the one you want to go to and see what the prices are. The cost would probably depend on how many field trips you decide to go on

What a great place for birding. I was just there last month. I heard about the parrots in Harlingen that you saw. I also heard they are in Brownsville.

Who named the roadside hawk? They’re like “is that a new species of hawk? By the road? I know what to call it!”

Probably someone who was extremely unimpressed by it or perhaps held a personal grudge lol
