We need to support families with special needs children as adults with older parents as caregivers.

Biden will provide more services to families like yours than will Trump. I hate to say it.

If you support Trump, please reach out to him and ask him to protect Medicaid, SSI and other programs for children with disabilities. If Trump changes his stance on these issues, I will support him.

Thank you for this encouragement and for making us aware of the challenges these precious families face. I just recently signed up to help my church with our Childrens Ministry and feel this is very timely for me. Thank you! 🙏🏼♥️

As a parent of a child who has Down syndrome, thank you to Sandra for educating and encouraging so graciously in so many areas with a smile on your face while at the same time also carrying your own family’s additional needs. I really appreciated Jim’s last question and your enlightening answer. So true-my family is much more in tune with needs of others. Remember and tell. Yes we have so much encouragement to give.

Thank you so much for this interview. As the wife of a man with Asperger’s (Level 1 autism) and the mother of at least one child (possibly two) children with the same diagnosis this is a very important and needed conversation. I reached out to Focus on the Family many years ago when we first learned about my husband’s diagnosis and they didn’t have any specific knowledge or help with this topic. There is often help or sympathy for special needs parents. But there are also special needs spouses and this topic needs to be addressed as well. It is even more difficult to parent a special needs child(ren) when you also have a spouse with special needs.

More church buildings and Christian’s need too learn not everyone was born perfect. It’s sad some Christian’s don’t see that. As a legally blind who has low vision I see true colors od professing Christian’s

The church needs to be better about encouraging people with autism. Stop acting like we are always the ones burdening yall. I was constantly bullied for being autistic by christians. How about the church allows autistic people to speak for themselves instead of non autistic church members speaking for us.

Simce becoming a parent of a child with autism that I have no choice to put in public school which is indoctrinating kids to be lgbtq, I am shocked how no one is talking about this. Haven't even heard a peep from christian families who have kids with special needs. But it should have been on people's hearts from the beginning. Christian school is supposed to be about giving a Christian WORLDVEIW education not over achieving academics. It's really disappointing how their main focus is keepi ng a high standard image.

You are so right! I am blessed in that, I can homeschool. Just yesterday a mother was talking about the blessing of their Christian school. If that were an option for me, my child would be there. There are no optioms.

@Chicka Peas I'm glad your able to homeschool. But yeah, it's really not OK how this has never been provided. It really woke me up because of the time we are living in and I regret not realizing this is a problem before I had a child with autism and the indoctrination in schools started. If the excuse really is not having the funds for it then why isn't reorganizing things around or taking some stuff out to replace those funds for special education plus fundraising and tuition an option? My daughters christian school has 24 extra curriculars with both cross country and track (why not just have one running sport?) Spanish in both elementary and middle school which language classes are more typically in middle school. Five music and art classes. Choir, band, orchestra, art, musical theater. Do they really need both band and orchestra when there's choir and musical theater? I feel like one could be taken out. It really does look selfish, completely neglecting Christian families with special needs children. Special needs children deserve a christian education too.

I agree. Religious schools need to do more to accommodate special needs students.
