I could hear when he turned on the bell. And continued to hear it ring all through the demonstration. I don't know what they were hearing there but, it sounded like the bell was ringing the whole time. I wonder where I could get one of those cool shirts.

Bruh it's the vacuum pump
@crashsitetube
@crashsitetube 3 жыл бұрын
@@SumanSingh-uv3xu Well, "Bruh", when the teacher turns the bell on and off, I can hear the bell turn on and off. When he turns the vacuum pump on and off, I can't hear any difference in the sound from that action (not sure why the vacuum pump is so quiet). But, even though the teacher and students say they can't hear the bell, I can still hear it in the video. I'm not sure what you are hearing.
@SumanSingh-uv3xu
@SumanSingh-uv3xu 3 жыл бұрын
@@crashsitetube I know u r getting confused duh just pause the video when he starts the vacuum pump. It'll clearly show u that the horrendous sound belonged to the vacuum pump and none to our bell jar. Although they sounded the same but try to put ur headphones on and then see the difference from which side the sound is coming although if u can't make out the difference then just imagine that the frequency of the bell jar was much less that that of the vacuum pump.
@crashsitetube

@@SumanSingh-uv3xu - I need to start relating this to, salaphysics. For a few reasons. This video is an excellent example of teaching/learning by rote. It's a poor way to teach any science when no thinking is encouraged or even allowed by the teacher. Those students were expected to say exactly what the teacher said and in the same way and all other responses were "yes sir" and "no sir". Very regimented. It's obvious that the teacher learned his sciece exactly as he's teaching it. By rote. By memorization. And, of course, the teacher has it wrong. Like every other "real scientist", he's thinking of sound as sound waves. Unfortunately, there's no way to convince someone who wants to believe something that what they believe is false. But, to pass those falsehoods on to the next generation is...criminal. Sound does travel through a vacuum. Because a vacuum is not the absence of matter. It may be the absence of atomic matter. Without getting too deep‌ into the nuts-n-bolts of it (in this venue), sound does propagate through a vacuum but, at the speed of light (as has been proven with the LIGO project). But, unlike sound through atomic matter (such as air prticles...or water...or metals, etc.), which we can easily hear, since our physiology has evolved to do that, our physiology does not respond to sounds arriving at light speed with sufficient effect for us to directly perceive it. But, getting back to the video. I notice some things that might explain why the bell can be heard after the air has been pumped out. Note how the bell is suspended in the bell jar. It appears to be hanging from a solid rod. That could transmit the sound to the jar even if the bell is in a vacuum. As the teacher lifts the jar, the sound of the bell changes from the way it sounds when on the pedestal. You have to be very observant but, as the teacher picks up the jar, he almost instantly lifts it. But, as he sets it down, there's a slight delay before he releases it with his hands. Listen for the change in sound at that exact time. That tells me two things. The first is that his hands dampen the sound of the bell radiated from the jar itself and second, that it's very likely that the students are saying that they don't hear the sound when they know the teacher doesn't want to be saying that they don't hear the sound. I think they are perfecly willing to sacrifice scientific integrity for the sake of social expectations. I can't hear the power supply switch when the bell is turned on but, when it's turned off I can clearly hear it click. With the vacuum pump, I can hear the click when it is switched on but, not when it was turned off. With science you (plural "you") need to take every aspect you are able to observe into account. To do less makes you at best a fake and a pseudo-scientist. BTW: When you do "kiddie-speak", it may make you look "rad" (do the kids still say that?) but, using the "king's English" (or other language) makes you appear more professional. I recommend that to anyone who wants to be taken seriously...Bruh. salaphysics.com 012421

@@crashsitetube I agree Bruv but it maybe the children's, teachers problem or urs and let's agree to that sound can travel in vacuum and doesn't reach us ultimately. Right cuz we aren't in vacuum. And we get in it we aren't capable of hearing that cuz we would already be dead. And the definition given by our books is absolutely correct.
