EXPERIMENTAL Wet Noodle Antenna!!!

At first I thought it was a joke. At the peak of the solar cycle you could make a contact with a wet noodle. Ha Ha Ha, sure... and then I got to thinking, would it be possible to make a contact with a wet noodle?
Only one way to find out, put it to the test!
WaveTalkers host W6AH puts a Capellini Pasta Antenna, an IC-705 , and an AH-705 to the test. This antenna is not going to win a DX contest by any stretch of the imagination. But the results are awesome.

The Navy did research using the pumped stream of salt water as an antenna. I understand it worked well.

But the (then popular) Macaroni Noodles’ circular cross section severely compromised radiative power…..

Italian her: Too little water, over cooked and too much salt (which makes sense for conductivity though). Besides, all salt is Kosher, unless they literally mean they remove the microscopic plankton from the salt?

agreed, certainly cooked for testing testing antenna properties. For me, I like the grip of that brand of salt.

"Kosher salt" is coarse salt, which makes it good for kashering (soaking and salting meat to draw out and remove residual blood).

How is the noodle staying connected?

The AH-705 ships with a PL-259 to a wire attachment, similar to the BNC adapter shown but only the center conductor. Very gently attached noodle not completely soaked

not yet, I was mostly curious if it was conducive and would radiate. More experimentation is needed
