Mark Smith, of Halibut Electronics, provides an overview and status update of his EggNOGS antenna kit project. This is a highly anticipated kit by those interested in SatNOGS and amateur radio satellites in general.
This kit can be built as a 70cm or a 2m antenna. The early focus of the project has been on perfecting the receive and build characteristics but the intention is that the antenna will also be capable of transmit.
For those interested in the potential of using this kit for the SatNOGS project, please check out my video for and introduction to the open source ground station project by Libre Space Foundation.

I’m so bummed I missed Halibut. It was on my list but I ran out of time. This look looks very cool!

Nice idea. The pad stack of the PCB would be critical to have a know repeatable capacity on the layers of the board. Interesting idea. I can wait until the kit comes out. 73

Some day! Hopefully not TOO FAR out. But I’ve got some other bits I need to wrap up before I get back to SOAR full time.

Saw this in Dayton last weekend, and am anxiously awaiting. Your booth is one of my go-to booths. Last year I bought the Current Choke Test Rig, and it had been a staple on my bench.

Interesting, but I will stick with my Old-School Eggbeater from Ed, W1HDQ back around 1967. His 100-ohm balanced delay line was made from two 1/4-wave pieces of RG-58, braids connected at each end and left floating. The two center conductors made up the 100-ohm line and were connected to the loops. These connect the 100-ohm loops in parallel and gave you a 50-ohm feedpoint. I use #8 solid wire for the loops. I have been using one now for over 50 years with great results. I currently run one on FT8 from the Buffalo, NY area on 144.174 MHz. De WB2VUO

Interdasting, what band is that antenna? And does it have a use other than satellites?
@digital.rancher
@digital.rancher 2 ай бұрын
The board can be implemented as 2m or 70cm. I believe the intention is to be able to transmit up to 50W once finished. It may not be the best solution in certain cases but you could use it in any application on those bands.
