Your contrast experiments are excellent! This video is the most valuable of them. Two ideas for some future experiment videos: - contrast paint on large surfaces (e.g. scenery like syvaneth wood or the new stormcast temples) - contrast paints over corax white spray (or any other old light primer)

That turned out great. Since you've done most kinds of surfaces I suppose the only thing left is an intricate one. Although that ridgerunner you painted had vents, maybe something more shallow, like the side of an Armiger chassis with all the tiny cables and vents would be a better example. For something less pricey, maybe chainmail, though I would prefer to see the effect on sharp details. The idea would be to see just how dramatic the built in shade can be by itself.

I came across this channel looking for contrast paint videos as I am a beginner painter with almost no free time so looking forward to paint more with this new product. I can only say: thanks for submitting this latest set of videos showing all the aspects of the contrast paints. Please keep these coming. May I suggest another video painting a Sylvaneth miniature from the Looncurse box? or a hammers of Sigmar Stormcast to see how we can use the contrast paint to paint the "gold" with a NMM yellow? Thanks!

I really appreciate these videos, they give a pretty good feel for the contrast paints and how they can be used! One thing I'm curious about though, and would like to see you cover, is: How easy is it to do OSL with Contrast paints? They seem to behave a lot like thick glazes, so I think they might be fantastic for it.

the metals came out *beautifully*, super excited to get my hands on contrast paints now. given that contrast paints are only meant to be used over lighter undercoats meant i was afraid i'd have to re-undercoat all my metalic bits by hand, but i'll be more than happy if i can get all my ork boyz's weapons and armour plates to look like the metals you achieved here

Say Pete, I would like to "challenge" you to use the new contrast paints to do a WH40k Tau suit (Crisis or Stealth, your choice). With so many flat surfaces, I would be *very* interested in seeing how you would tackle it. Your video about the underlying Leadbelcher has me thinking that a metallic/contrast Tau suit could look VERY sexy. Hope you see this and undertake this!

Have you used the new sprays/their pots (wraithbone etc). How thick are they? Would they cover well over black primer? Are they actually primers or do they still need a primer first?
@Mr_Secondaries4 жыл бұрын
I find that the contrast paints, once you learn how to use them, are a great way to speed up the whole painting process in general and come out with some really nice looking models. However, if you want to take them to the next level, you can also add additional layer paints on top of them, doing more highlights, adding in more shadows, etc. and they look just as good as if you did the whole thing the traditional method. I think the contrast paints are worth the investment, but they do require some getting use to using, similar to when washes were first introduced.
@robinrosendahl75865 жыл бұрын
How does it look if you prime a mini white, do a black wash and then drybrush white before applying contrast? Really curious on how either awesome or horrible that would look.

I mostly wonder how Contrast works on detailing, is the effect apply-able with a small detail brush as not to overspil? Also working on detailed little areas would you suggest to hit them with paint first? As the larger areas (like the teeth themselves) have more,easier surface to work with?
