That happens if the sponge inside the cartridge becomes over saturated and can not absorb the ink any more. It's due to over filling over the time. Refilling cartridges have limitations. The sponge loses it's capacity over time.

Refill will work only one or two time. After that due to hp security the cartridge will be unrecognisable by printer. The ink level is detected by the printer or cartridge in terms if page count. I have 805 cartridge. black cartridge is now not recognised after two refill even after proper handling . Colour cartridge is still working.

See, empty cartiage is already useless for us, if we will order new carriages but if we will refill ink and if cartiage will work 2,3,4,5,6,etc times then it is very much money saving for us. We can order new carriages anytime once old will be useless as per HP security. I filled it twice and both carriages are working very well.

how many time can you use the original cartridge for refill until it cannot be used anymore?

There are no count defines, practically I used 6 times and still it is working whenever I am filling.. Ink filling is very very cheap, if you fill one time, you are saving more than 90% amount of the original cartilages.
